Random Shots at Bandai, Mattel and Square Enix SDCC 2009

More shots from Preview Night. The 30 minutes waiting in line at Bandai was pure torture. I know the Mattel and Hasbro lines are twice or three times as long, but it's excrudiating to wait when there is so much to see. What made it worse is that Bandai only had One (1) cash register...! I kid you not! The Gundam above is huge. Kinda like that "Premium Format" that Sideshow Collectibles is doing. I have no idea on the scale, but the figure is maybe two feet tall?

Finally got to see Big Foot Player Dangango from the Basquash Anime. It's quite beautiful. It will be articulated and it's coming out very soon. One of the guys from Bandai said there is a fully transformable version of this toy in the works. That will be insane. Check out a clip of the anime HERE

I also finally got to see this "UMC" Mazinger. It's made of titanium and carbon fibre. Although it's tall...almost two feet tall, it's quite light due to the materials. I also found out that there is only one in existence...! The Bandai guys were telling me that it's a great time to be a Mazinger fan as there are going to be some more cool Mazinger toys released soon.

At Mattel, they were promoting James Cameron's new movie Avatar and the slew of mechanized toys that will follow.

Here's a teaser that doesn't tell you all the much. Essentially we blow up the Earth and need to find another planet to inhabit. I think the mechs are for colonizing another planet with no doubt some none-too-happy locals. As much as I dig these mechs and I really do. They almost seem too familiar. The design has been done to death with Warhammer / Terminator / generic Sci-Fi movie. But perhaps that's the point.

This Transformer was pretty impressive though. Actually I think it's from the Hasbro booth which we will come back to. Oops!

Now this Final Fantasy Shiva prototype at the Square Enix booth was unreal. It's also huge. Maybe 20" long. The detailing is unbelievable. I would love to have one, but fear for what this thing would cost.

How about another run of Armored Core Figures? I'm always down for that. This one looked a bit bigger. Maybe like 1/100 scale. nice weathering.

Wow, I'd love to see some customs of those Mazingers and Basquash toys. Matt Walker would rock these.
