KAWS Companion Resting Place Preview..!!

Who doesn't want another Companion? This Dissected Companion is resting as if on a picnic....lol... According to KAWS Facebook page, it's dropping this week. ¥25,200 at Originalfake which puts it at around $325 when it hits KAWSONE.com. I'm wondering if it's in the same scale as the original Dissected or smaller? For this kind of money, I hope it's the same size. The problem when then be about real estate as it will take up a lot of shelf space. I like it and will probably try to get one, but not holding my breath as the Kawsone servers will probably melt as usual. Looking forward to the black colorway.

Here is the latest KAWS figure: JOE KAWS. What do you think? Some toy collectors are giving this release a critical eye. I can see why. For $240, it does seem un-inspired. But is it anymore than the KAWS Pinocchio which was received with much praise? Does it have anything to do with the fact that many a generation that has grown up with Peanuts have been inundated with Snoopy toys and cringe at the thought of paying $240 for essentially the same toy but with X's over the eyes? Personally I would have liked to see something different. Maybe Snoopy Flying Ace with a skull head and X's on top of his dog house? Or is because i'm really looking forward to the David Flores x hellfire Deathead? I don't know... I get it.... Joe KAWS cool with sunglasses. Maybe he should have the same pose leaning against the dog house.

Custom KAWS x BAPE Milo Dissected by Keithing

ToyQube is releasing a set of 8 custom painted Dissected Milos by Keithing (Keith Poon) on Friday 6/10/11 at 10am PDT. All handpainted with acrylic giving it a wooden washed out texture. The green paint is GID. Price unknown. Looks ok, but not totally into the whole "wooden" treatment. Especially since KAWS just released the real wood Companion for like $3k. Would have been more interested to see a distressed metal look here.

the interwebs are buzzing this morning with these amazing shots of Mark Parker's Office. He's the CEO of Nike and can afford a lot of cool toys and art to put in his office. The pictures are part of an interview with whitewall magazine and worth the read. I just like the eyecandy. This is one of those places you can spend a couple of hours just looking around. Can you spot your favorite toys? I see KAWS, PUSHEAD even some Secret Base. Reminds me a bit of Medicom CEO Ryu Akashi's office

KAWS Karimoku Companion: $3,000???

The interwebs have been a buzz about this KAWS Original Fake x Karimoku Companion. First spotted in the Dos Equis video back in November posted here, it's finally going into production.

Karimoku is a famous Japanese furniture maker with a "thorough knowledge of Wood and a Love for Wood". I wonder if this accounts for the $3,000 price tag. Yes, KAWS is expensive, we all know that. But i'm having problems reconciling it. It's only 12" tall for pete's sake. The Sorayama Companion which is completely made of metal was a third of the price and designed by Sorayama..!!!!

I'm sorry, but for $3,000 I could have a luxury vacation in Indonesia with money left over to have the same guys carve me twelve different versions is every kind of wood known to man.
