GID Real x Head Kabuki Evil
Say what you like, but i'm a big fan of the RealxHead Kabuki Series. This GID Mutant Evil being one of the latest versions. I like the Kabuki mask, bandana and painted shorts, but the subtle orange and gold spray on the arms is what seals the deal. I got this one from the fine folks at Lulubell Toys.
The Dr. Mortality You Have Been Waiting For
Here is the Dr. Mortality you have been waiting for. The first real painted version of this interesting collaboration between Austin based tattoo artist Chris Trevino x ThreeTidesTattoo x Secret Base. It's about 6" tall and will be released at the upcoming Taipei Toy Festival.

He's also got a new clothing line called Horimana One
9 Movie Trailers
I know i'm getting old and out of the loop these days, but seeing how i'm on the interwebz alot, how did I miss this fantastic trailer for Tim Burton's new Movie "9" that is coming out 9.9.09? Insane...
A new era in animated storytelling begins on 9.9.09. Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton (The Corpse Bride, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory) and Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Nightwatch) join forces to produce wunderkind director Shane Ackers distinctively original and thrilling tale. 9 stars Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover and features the music of Danny Elfman. When 9 (The Lord of the Rings Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As theyll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.
Here's an extended 10 minute clip
Yoda Skullbee by Leecifer
Leecifer dips his brush back into the deep well that is Star Wars and emerges with a Yoda Skullbee as a suggestion and commission by a Secret Base fan C77. I love it. Lee did an amazing job as usual. I'm a bit torn on the eyeballs though. While the eyes are trademark features of any Leecifer custom, for some reason, they don't fit on the Bee's angular eye balls. I don't they it would work without them either.
Your Little Sister Customized Your Gundam
Your little sister steals your Gundam kit and it shows up a week later looking like this. What do you do? My first instinct would be to scream and smash it into little bits. Upon closer inspection however, it's quite a nice custom so it's hard to get too mad at her. You just make a mental note not to leave any toys or kits out in the open.
Created by a Taiwanese fan...perhaps to celebrate Gundam's 30th Anniversary or perhaps to protest that there needs to be a pink Gundam colorway with lots of jewels...i'm not sure.

They even made it to stand like a little School girl...! That's obscene.
While a pink, bejewelled Gundam RX-71 is worrisome, not nearly as much as this Hello Kitty AR-15 Assault Rifle. This just plain crosses the line. Yes, it's real and yes it really shoots bullets.

Unpainteds are Good
I don't collect unpainted toys. In fact, when I do get unpainted toys, I have a compulsion to paint them. But here we have an example where less is more. A flock of unpainted Skullwings. My all time favorite sculp and one of the toys that got me hooked on this ridiculous obsession. Not to worry purists, my airbrush won't be going anywhere near these guys. I almost didn't want them to come out of their bags. Thanks again pj.
Japanorama: "Urban Vinyl"
If you haven't seen the excellent BBC series "Japanorama". I would suggest dedicating some time and checking out all the 30 minute episodes on Youtube. Really quite good. This episode is dedicated to Japanese "Urban Vinyl". Aside from the title and voice overs, it's pretty good. Interviews with Hiddy and Hikaru included.
Butanohana Show @ Thrashout
