While the "Super Deformed" gimmick is nothing new to Japanese toys, we seem to be seeing this ratio-squashing form applied to action figures and even die-cast toys lately. Super Deformed or SD has normally been just for Gundam model kits, but it looks like other manufacturers are stepping up the game to die-cast. In this case, Artstorm is going classic with this set of Getter 1,2 and 3 in "ES" style which stands for "Excellent Short Style". They only announced their ES version of Jeeg and GoShogun not too long ago. While i'm a big fan of Getter Dragon, I dislike the red, white and yellow colorway. I might have to hold out for the Black Getter version of this ES figure which I hope is not too far away.
Back to these guys. Getter Dragon will be released in October for 4,800 Yen, Getter 2and 3 for 3,800 Yen.
It would be really cool if they transformed into ships and then into one giant robot, but that would probably be asking too much.
