The Crossover at the Global Figure Symposium SDCC 2010

One of my only pictures of Don...

I think one of the most interesting events this year was the tiny booth that seemed to hold a small army of artist and toy makers. Spearheaded by Matt Doughty of Onell Design and Datadub of Fig-Lab, this year's Crossover event for the Global Figure Symposium was the hot ticket. I'm guessing around 20-25 artists from both the US and Japan were represented. Every couple of hours, the table was cleared and another artist would put up their wares. I found myself going back to this booth over and over (as evidenced by the last six posts showing other artists sharing this booth).

I've got a soft place in my heart for Popsoda. So when I see custom Popsoda's by another personal and fan favorite, Arbito, one gets doubly stoked. The colors are gouge out your eyes awsome. I love the shading and all the details. He looks like his jacket is make from Ostrich...lol..! Hossy would approve..!

Shinto Gangu After School Club!!

In what looks like an actual high school gym, our friends at Kaiju-Taro took pics from the recent "Shinto Gangu After School Club" show featuring all kinds of RealxHead mini fortune cats designed by various artists such as Itokin Park. Looks like there were a few new sculps introduced including newcomer Yamazakura with his really interesting new sculp above. It's being produced by Mori Katsura of RealxHead. I say wow, let's get some of these stateside ASAP!!

Paul Kaiju x Popsoda bbulb.com Exclusive!!

As you know, i'm a big fan of all things "PK". That's Paul Kaiju for the unaware. So i'm pretty stoked that he's doing a run of the beloved incredibly melting Popsoda. You may or may not know that the un-assuming Popsoda has quite a cult following. Some would say just as fervent as the Mutant Evil and Mutant Chaos collectors out there. So it's awesome that online retailer bbulb.com is doing their 2nd run of Popsodas. This time with the legendary Paul Kaiju. But the way to get one might be tricky for non saavy:

So here’s the deal. On Wednesday May 6th, at a random time, we’re going to make these pieces available, via this post. It’ll be pretty simple. Comments are disabled at the moment, but once the pieces are available, you’ll be able to post.

To get a piece, all you have to do is make a comment stating that you want one. The catch is that when you enter your email, it has to match the email we have on file. This means you need to register on their site now...!

It’ll be first come first serve, and if we get more requests than we have pieces available, we’ll start a waitlist. Everyone who gets in on time will get an email, with further instructions.

We’ll send an email out to everyone once it’s time, and make a Twitter update too, so make sure you’re following us. In the meantime, enjoy the above pic from Paul Kaiju. Pretty cool, no?

Thanks to the ever vigilante resident Popsoda expert, Lalo, he gives us news of these crazy new Posoda Tributes from Jungle Special Collectors Shop. Looks like on 4/25, the Lion Maru tribute will go on sale for 7,000 yen. On 4/26, the Tiger 7 tribute will go on sale for 7,000 yen. Personally, i'm a sucker for toys with accessories and weapons..!
