L'amour Supreme Custom Yamazakura..!!

L'amour Supreme custom Yamazakura

I managed to score this sick custom Yamazakura from L'amour Supreme at SDCC 2010. One of my prized pick-ups from SDCC... Another insane example of this man's talents. If this guy jumped off the pages of a comic book and landed on your desk, this is what it would look like. Thanks Joel..!

TOYSREVIL SDCC 2010 Interview with toybot studios

TRE Interview with TBS

Am I so vain that I would re-post Andy's interview of me from his awesome brethren toy blogness ToysREvil??? Yes.... Yes I am. Thanks again Andy..!

Original POST HERE

Truth be told, I had a whole slew of kaiju-related SDCC-news all prepped and lined-up to post before the madness that which was San Diego Comic Con 2010 [tagged], but in reality, any reader of this humble blog knows that my knowledge of all-things kaiju is sorely limited, a kaiju-tourist I remain still, woefully out of my depth, even after all these years of blogging. Thank the blog-gawds there are folks like Kirkland Jue of Toybot Studios, to keep me clued in LOL

TOYSREVIL: How many years since have you attended+covered SDCC?

KIRKLAND JUE: I think this is my fourth year at SDCC. kind of a late bloomer to the madness.

TOYSREVIL: What struck you the most about this year's SDCC, compared to previous years?

KIRKLAND JUE: The sheer volume of toys being offered by an increased amount of artists that were not represented last year. For example, Super 7 had something like 28 new toys at SDCC. Gargamel had enough customs to keep fans coming back all week long. Datadub and Onell had 20-25 different American and Japanese artists represented in their little booth. It was insane.

TOYSREVIL: What did you enjoy the most about this year's SDCC? Best Experience?

KIRKLAND JUE: On the toy scene, Gargamel had a full table of wonderful customs to choose from everyday. This was a first. Super 7 showcased all of their Monster Family artists with 3 separate signings. My favorite event was the RealxHead release. Mori surprised us all with his new sculpts and collaborations with Paul Kaiju, Lamour Supreme and Datadub. But really the Best Experience was hanging out with my toy buddies who normally I only get to correspond with on Skullbrain.

TOYSREVIL: What did you "enjoy" the least about this year's SDCC?

KIRKLAND JUE: The lack of cash..lol... I was a bit disappointed with the exclusives from Hasbro, Mattel and Bandai as well.

TOYSREVIL: What is your ultimate personal fav seen at this year's SDCC? What product/toy struck you / caught your attention the most?

KIRKLAND JUE: Ack..! very difficult question. I would say the KaToPe Gargamel customs blew me away. Lamour Supreme custom Yamazakura, RealxHead x Onell clear green fade Pheyosman, the new Mirock x RealxHead collaboration and of course Mike Sutfin's Mad Battle Man..!

TOYSREVIL: Besides toys, what else do you look out for at SDCC?

KIRKLAND JUE: C'mon Andy, what else is there besides toys??? lol...

Yotoy PRTC Robot - SDCC 2010

Three_PRTC 400x250
Frightening size comparison. The little guy is still 9"-10" tall...!

I got a chance to check out the new Yotoy PRTC robots designed by SF local artist Norio Fujikawa at the MindStyle booth at SDCC. No toys were actually released, but a couple of prototypes were there. First thing to mention is that they toys are big. Bigger than I expected. This is both good and bad. Good because big toys are cool. Bad because big toys take up a lot of precious shelf space and tend to cost a lot. These guys are due out by year end. Man, I hope they don't break the bank. But as long as they can stand up ok, I'll add them to my collection.

this guy is the smallest and he's still probably 9"-10" tall.

Omar was really big. Too big to stand up. Standing up, maybe 22"?!!!

Alex Zavaleta Hosts the BEST SDCC 2010 Video...!

alex sdcc2010

This year our intrepid host Alex Zavaleta searches for the perfect girl at San Diego Comic Con. This girl would ideally be easy on the eyes, not in costume, not being paid to be there and single. Difficult catch? maybe...

Brand Loyalty Custom Big Plastic figures by Paul Kaiju...!!!

Paul Kaiju custom Brand Loyalty toys

The custom painted figures from the Dead Presidents post earlier are from a company called Brand Loyalty. The line of figures is called Big Plastic. Thanks Chris. But they are not plastic toys at all. Beautiful, heavy and sometimes articulated resin figures.

I don't know how I missed these, but Paul Kaiju also painted up a set of these awesome figures. A few are still available so hit up PK by going to his link above. I wish I could have both custom sets next to each other.

Super 7 at SDCC 2010...!!!!

Super 7 at SDCC 2010

Super7 was a beehive of activity in the so-called "Toy Growers Cultyard" at SDCC 2010. Several signings and releases made this booth a must stop for any toy collector into Western or Japanese vinyl.

Sideshow Collectibles at SDCC 2010...!

Sideshow Toys SDCC 2010

The sheer magnitude in Sideshow Collectibles at SDCC never disappoints. From the huge presense to the huge figures, Sideshow is for hardcore collectors with money to burn... I would love to pick up their stuff, but something that always holds me back is the fact that these collectibles are not toys, they are essentially statues...usually with bases for display and ogling only. Even though my toys are usually only on display, I do like to pick them up and play around with them. Even if it's just simple articulation.
