Paul Kaiju Gobo King First Edition...!!

The stars were aligned for this one as I won the recent raffle for the first edition Gobo King in black vinyl with metallic paints. Holy smokes is this thing a beast! 12 inches tall, 7 points of articulation and get this: a removable helmet. The details on this guy with the tank treads, chest gatling gun, disc blade, wooden back door and chain are amazing.

Paul Kaiju Domino Jack...!!!

This toy absolutely is one of my all-time favorite toys. For me, this toy has it all. It's a robot with a nod to 70's Popy design. I love the rocket fist and the Giant Robot-esque missile-tipped fingers. This particular version is from DCON 2014 and features clear vinyl painted in my favorite colors with plastic jacks and wires as guts and brains. It's perfection.

Paul Kaiju Domino Jack Debut - SDCC 2014

Behold Domino Jack....!!!! The brand new figure from Paul Kaiju that made his debut at the of Fist Full of Dominoes show at SDCC this year. This guy is my new favorite toy. He's a humanoid robot with a 70's nod to Astro Boy with a giant fist cast in clear vinyl half-painted Kikaida homage. Inside true to his name are some toy jacks. This is one of those toys that I would buy in every colorway until I have like 50. Best toy that Paul produces in my opinion.

UPDATE: PK was kind enough to offer a little backstory on Domino Jack:

Police type Robot sentinel created by the very civilization Dr. Velm Q (now Salamander Joe) betrayed. Put in place to prevent him from escaping Earth and returning home.This in itself causes much turmoil with the creatures that have turned against Velm Q, and the evil robots of the Machine hell.

Todd and Paul above. One of the main reasons I went to Con this year was for the Paul Kaiju show. It is one of the #1 priorities of the entire convention. This year it was at Gunnzo which is a toy store in Old Town which provided a nice excuse to get out of downtown. It was great. It really felt like a house party complete with a backyard where everyone could hang out. Totally classy affair. Paul catered the event so there was tacos with homemade tortillas. Like she made them right in front of you fresh. So yummy.

But the star of the show is Domino Jack. Everything I love about toys is represented right here.

Thanks to Joe who got called early and hooked me up. In return when I got called, I picked him up the Alien Ree which was his first choice. Karma!

I'd love to see the Mock Pilot get the clear vinyl treatment one day.

Paul really outdid himself this year. He painted over a hundred toys. Enough so that everyone who attended got something and probably even got two toys by the end of the evening. Such a great event. Todd, Mel and Paul did a great job. Thanks to Chika at Gunnzo for hosting the event at her store too..!
