PUSHEAD x TAKE-SHIT at SDCC 2012

For many of us, PUSHEAD is the only reason to come to SDCC. Fans from around the world came far and wide in hopes of getting a single piece of PUSHEAD goodness. PUSHEAD did not disappoint. Personally, of all the years that PUSHEAD has been doing events at SDCC, I think this was the best by far. It was a tribute to someone who started it all: Take-Shit. Takeshi created the Finkshit which is the original Fight Figure that launched an entire genre of vinyl toys from Japan. It was an honor to have him attend SDCC this year. There were painted and un-painted Finkshits available for the first time since the original releases so many years ago. But these had the original scar on the back of his head. There were also HP Cococrocs, marbled pirates and two flavors of pink Skullbrains. Also present to torture the fans were a GID H.Saigansho Mecha Gorilla, plus a grey painted Mecha Gorilla 2 that matched the colorway of one of the Finkshits. All grail material. Amazing, unbelievable. All of this in addition to a marble pink Pirate and the purple marbled Rebel Captain. Not to mention the PUSHEAD x NIKE SB Dunk Lows. Truly overwhelming. If you are a hardcore PUSHEAD fan, this was the SDCC not to miss.

NEW 9”X12” ART AND PHOTO BOOK BY KIRK HAMMETT FEATURES HAMMETT’S COLLECTION OF HORROR MEMORABILIA

Metallica’s Kirk Hammett announced today that he will publish his first book, Too Much Horror Business – The Kirk Hammett Collection, this October via Abrams Image. Documenting Kirk’s love of all things horror, and the legendary collection of horror memorabilia he has amassed over the years, TMHB is a stunning 228 page, hardback, large format coffee table book featuring well over 300 full color images from Kirk’s private collection and exclusive set photography by Mark Leialoha and Joe Gibbs. There will be three extensive conversations with writer Steffan Chirazi covering the importance of collecting in Hammett’s life from childhood, plus written captions by Kirk for many of the items displayed in the book.

“This is my gift to all the other horror nerds out there who are just like me,” says Kirk, “it’s been made with great love for all the many characters and movies which guided me through childhood, into adulthood and which still keep me on track today.”

from Kirk Hammett's website:
That's right, should you find yourself in San Diego at that little ol' shindig otherwise known as the San Diego Comic Convention, aka San Diego Comic-Con, on Friday the 13th, a certain KVH will be at the TOKYO TOY BOOTH #5336 Hall G from 1.30 to 2.30 PDT signing a few pre-determined cool thingies pertaining to the forthcoming book about Kirk Hammett's collection titled TOO MUCH HORROR BUSINESS.

A word to the wise...this will ONLY be open to those who ALREADY HAVE CONVENTION CREDENTIALS and those who have ALREADY REGISTERED via our "cryptic" sign-up last week, but even if you DIDN'T get in the sign-up, if you have your badge, drift on by the TOKYO TOY BOOTH and eyeball the TMHB action, organized by our old friend Pushead who may be lurking around!

There is rumor that Kirk will be bringing a prototype of his first Japanese vinyl toy sculpted by Kim Ito of Pushead's Hydrobaby fame.

PUSHEAD x NIKE Dunk Low Pro SB

PUSHEAD x Nike Dunk Low Pro SB

Another preview of upcoming PUSHEAD x NIKE Dunk Low Pro SB. I'm digging the darker colorway plus the PUSHEAD signature design on the in-sole. Officially, it will be released on July 14th at Project 1/6 in Japan and other Nike SB retailers. If you're lucky, you might catch it this Thursday at SDCC.

THE PUSHEAD EVENT SDCC 2012 with Special Guest: TAKESHIT...!!!!

PUSHEAD with TAKESHIT SDCC 2012

Date : Thursday July 12th 2012
Location : San Diego Comic Convention Hall G TOY TOKYO Booth #5336
Time : 4:20pm
What : The Pushead Event
Special Guest : TAKESHIT !

This year, Pushead is stepping back in time a bit, and bringing out his old friend TAKESHIT, bassist extraordinaire of CocoBat, for his first appearance at SDCC! And for this special appearance, Pushead was able to get TAKESHIT to pull out of retirement, the figure that started it all, the FINKSHIT! That's right, the first underground DIY soft vinyl fight figure, that inspired the creation of Secret Base 4 years later. Plus, not only would the FinkShit be rising out of retirement, for this one time appearance after 15 years, it appears that when the original FINKSHIT head was sculpted (for the promo variation of Pushead's 'Race to Hell' tin car), there were 2 different head variations made in the wax cast. One without a scar (which become the production figure) and the other with a SCAR.

The FINKSHIT head with the SCAR never saw the light….until now at SDCC!

Also, after last years extremely successful 'ANDY' SkullWing, Pus dug down into that retirement vault, and found a way to convince Hiddy of Secret Base (old friend of FINKSHIT) owner, to pull the SkullBrain out of retirement too! ANDY got to work and created a very limited dark gray & glow marbled vinyl GRIM SkullBrain with a clear grey 'squishee' outer head and for perhaps the first time….skullMantis arms! Comes with a header card featuring lettering by Pushead over ANDY's design.

Last year's NYCC saw the birth of the Pushead + Usugrow RebelCaptain, and a few were slightly bummed, it wasn't at SDCC. So, just for SDCC, there will be a beautiful dark purple & glow marbled vinyl version, with a nice gold skullPirate's Eye tampo on the back.

These are just a few of the items that toyBot studios has been able to scrape out of the man himself, with a few snaps for good measure, that will be available at the Pushead SDCC event.

With even more surprises rumored to be in store! Come out and meet Takeshit, get an autograph on a CocoBat release, pick up a FINKSHIT SCAR or just say Konnichiwa! The annual event just keeps getting better!!
