BLObPUS x Yamomark Dissected Yamobazooka

BLObPUS x Yamomark Yamobazooka

I don't own one of these Yamomark Bazooka guys, but i've always wanted one. So when BLObPUS goes out and does a special collaboration, it's a sure fire hit. The toy already has the exposed rib cage going on, add the dissected treatment with the cut away chest and exposed guts and you have taken it one more level. Couple that with the awesome metallic blue, orange, gold, green sprays painted on the inside of the clear vinyl and you have something insane. These awesome pictures via jcat.

Ashley Wood x Bandai Zaku Preview...!!

3A x Bandai Zaku

Shown at Ani-Com in Hong Kong the other day is the test model for the upcoming 3A x Bandai Zaku figure. I've really been looking forward to this and with a few reservations, i'm still pretty pumped. The notion of Ashley woods re-imagining the iconic Zaku villain from Gundam is a dream come true. But in this preview, do the highly stylized proportions help or hurt? I think both. I like the exagerated hands and shoulders, but I think the lower legs and feet need beefing up as well. I'm ok with the miniscule head with the homage to the NOM Commanders. I love the giant shoulder shield and opposing shoulder armor the best. The giant bazooka maybe not so much. I only hope that Ash includes some kind of giant wicked axe. I'm also curious as to the size. It looks huge which is ok by me. Don't get me wrong, I still love it and will be buying it for sure.

Rotobox Custom Kaneda Celcius

Rotobox Celcius Kaneda Custom

wow, Spencer and his brother really outdid themselves on this custom Celcius. This custom hits all my buttons. I love Kaneda and his bike. I love the idea of the CI Boy pilot in a Kaneda's bike style mech walker. This one has it all. Unfortunately, it was a commission for a private collection.

This is the first figure for our Rotobox Parallel Works series. The concept of this series is that we do our version of a certain character but with a twist, like a parallel universe or a different outlook on the character, in this case, it's from the anime Akira, where Kaneda has a bike, and in our parallel works series, we did a robot instead :) but we still based the concept on kaneda's bike. The poster that we did below is based on the poster of Akira, where kaneda is walking straight to his bike.

MonstreHero and Uh Oh Toys at SDCC 2011...!!!

MonstreHero and Uh Oh Toys SDCC 2011

I'm always stoked to see Sean from MonstreHero and Aaron from Uh Oh Toys. Missed you Cliff...! These guys make resin toys and have been an inspiration to many of us that want to make toys. I like MonstreHero's original toys, but I also like the collaborations with other toys, especially their latest with Onell. Sean and Cliff will make new heads and weapons for the Glyos figures and re-paint them. In this case, it's a preview for an upcoming set featuring one of these Glyos customs and their own Ememgon Crystal Monster designed by Connell.

Aaron has this new, yet-to-be named "Buffalo Dino" figure which I think is really interesting. But really, it's a Minotaur. seven points of articulation (if you include the horns), this was not an easy resin toy to make.

SKINNER - The Fragile Art of Existence Solo Show Aug. 6th Shooting Gallery

Saturday, August 6 · 7:00pm - 11:00pm

The Shooting Gallery
839 Larkin Street
San Francisco, California

Shooting Gallery is pleased to present The Fragile Art of Existence, a series of stunning new figurative works by Sacramento-based artist Skinner. This will be Skinner’s first solo exhibition at Shooting Gallery, following his solo exhibition This Fear You May Know in summer of 2010 at sister gallery White Walls. The opening reception will be Saturday, August 6, from 7-11 pm, and the exhibition is free and open to the public for viewing through August 27.

For the work featured in The Fragile Art of Existence, Skinner steps back a bit from his investigations of fear and destruction – in order to begin expanding his personal vision and scope of understanding. By taking risks, and making work outside of his comfort zone, Skinner hopes to free himself from any internal or external pressures that may pry him away from being present and “in the moment” with these new paintings. He has worked to eliminate any rushing, pressure, or stress that may prohibit him from making fluid, carefully balanced pieces that reflect this mentality, and provide a space for artistic experimentation and growth.

The exhibition will feature a selection of approximately 10 mixed-media works by this prolific artist. From Skinner himself: “In order to stay as honest as I possibly can, I have decided to try and paint from the most vulnerable and uncertain places, as I grow and challenge the behaviors and darknesses that threaten my negotiation with personal peace. In order to do that, I have to clear my palette of fear, anger, judgment, and hesitation. To do things I am unaccustomed to, and to try the avenues least walked down within myself, so that I can understand my art in a way I never have before. I don't want to rob myself of what could be great breakthroughs in my life and in my art by ignoring the risks and work it takes to do this.”

The House of Paul Kaiju Music Video

The hospitality of Paul and Melissa Kaiju was overwhelming. Definitely one of the highlights of SDCC was geeking out with some of the coolest people in this crazy hobby of ours in the house of one of the legends of the industry, Paul Kaiju. The house is amazing, the company fantastic, but the collection....oh man... the collection is sublime. I also have a totally new respect and possible future obsession with dolls now. 92 pictures might best be viewed with the above music vid. Thanks again Paul and Melissa...!!
