3A x Bandai ZAKU Launches in 2 Days..!!

The much anticipated 3A x Bandai ZAKU goes on pre-sale January 5th @ 5:00 pm PST at Bambaland. It was announced the other day that there is only one colorway which you see here and it will be selling for $330.00. It's about $80 more than I thought it was going to be, but not all that surprised since Bandai has to get paid as well. I am surprised that there is only one colorway. I thought for sure there was going to be like five different versions. I was looking forward to a Nightwatch version for sure. But perhaps too much like the Mastermind collaboration?. Anyways, I am going to gamble that there will be other colorways. There has to be. This is an expensive toy to produce so the law of toys dictates more colorways. Ashley also confirmed a Mazinger and perhaps a Gundam in the works, but the Zaku has to sell first. I say skip the Gundam and go straight for the Mazinger..! Better yet, skip Mazinger and go right to Grendizer complete with Spazer...!!

3A X Bandai ZAKU...!!!

3AxBandai ZAKU coming to Bambaland soon...!! Check out the clip on that rifle! Sooooo happy to see Ashley included an Axe!! I still think the head is too tiny, but i'm on board. Can hardly wait to see the colorways. I think a Nightwatch version is in order here.

haha. Uber customizer Ultraman wanted to know what the upcoming 3A Zaku is going to look like in traditional Zaku colorways. Pretty cool me thinks. But the Blue would look better on a 3A x Gouf or Kampfer for sure.

3A x Bandai Zaku Prototype new pics...!!

I'm still pretty excited about this highly stylized Zaku by Ashley Woods. I think part of it is because we have never seen a Gundam or Zaku that has been completely re-designed outside of Bandai. The proportions still look a bit odd to me but I think that's part of the design. If it was perfectly proportioned, it would look too much like the Bandai Zaku. The tiny head makes the shoulders and hands look huge. Still on the fence with the gun. Really, really hope there is an axe that comes with this guy. No info on pre-order dates. Suffice to say, it will be many months before this guy is in your hands.

Ashley Wood x Bandai Zaku Preview...!!

Shown at Ani-Com in Hong Kong the other day is the test model for the upcoming 3A x Bandai Zaku figure. I've really been looking forward to this and with a few reservations, i'm still pretty pumped. The notion of Ashley woods re-imagining the iconic Zaku villain from Gundam is a dream come true. But in this preview, do the highly stylized proportions help or hurt? I think both. I like the exagerated hands and shoulders, but I think the lower legs and feet need beefing up as well. I'm ok with the miniscule head with the homage to the NOM Commanders. I love the giant shoulder shield and opposing shoulder armor the best. The giant bazooka maybe not so much. I only hope that Ash includes some kind of giant wicked axe. I'm also curious as to the size. It looks huge which is ok by me. Don't get me wrong, I still love it and will be buying it for sure.

3A x Bandai..!!

Ashley showed us this new painting of what looks like Zaku II. 3A and Bandai just announced a huge collaboration at Wonder Festival a few weeks ago. Seeing Ashley's vision for the iconic robot will breathe new life into the juggernaught franchise if you ask me. I especially like that he chose Zeon first as Zaku really fits with the 3A aesthetic IMO. I can think of another six or so Zeon mechs that could use the 3A treatment. I'm stoked..!

Ganmetall Celsius Custom Gunpla Figure 2: Zaku II

As inevitable as "ping" after "pong" or "peanut butter" after "jelly", we have the 2nd figure in Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica's Gunpla Tribute Series: Zaku II...!! Of course. Only released in an edition of 2 so you Gunota's better head over to Rotobox's site and get yours! I really like what they have done with both of these customs. Not too over the top. Spencer still maintains much of the original design of his Ganmetall Celsius figure and just adds enough to make you realize you are looking at the Gundam universe.
