50 Most Iconic Motorcycles in History ?!

50 Most Iconic Motorcycles in History?

The uber cool dudes over at Gear Patrol have a nice gallery of motorcycles titled: 50 Most Iconic Bikes in Motorcycle History. While I agree with many of the entries below, many I do not agree with it, but that's ok. I just think Iconic is a strong word to throw around.  It ends up that in reality, it's a list of their favorite bikes. Slightly different but I guess 50 Favorite Bikes in Motorcycle History doesn't have that ring to it.

datadub Riding Kaneda's Bike

datadub at Akira Exhibit

Check out Don aka datadub striking the pose on Kaneda's bike at the GENGATEN Exhibit: The Art of Otomo Katsuhiro. I think Don would do well in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo. He certainly has the facial hair for it.

Real Working Kaneda's Motorcycle from Akira Tours Japan...!!!

Kaneda's bike from Akira

The only officially recognized replica of Shotaro Kaneda’s motorcycle from Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira manga and film is currently traveling across Japan. Shinji Tejima from the Showa Studio automobile repair shop spent seven years and approximately 10 million yen (about US$121,400) to build the motorcycle, and he is riding it across Japan to raise money for the children’s autism support group Bokura Company. Tejima started his journey in Fukuoka where he lives and is traveling south and has stopped in various cities such as Osaka, Nagoya, and on Shōdo Island.

Honda Concept Chopper

Honda Chopper

Do you remember the Pininfarina Coupe Concept we presented just a few days ago? Its designer, Peter Norris, has developed yet another amazing concept, but this time, it’s a motorcycle and not a car. His project is called the Honda Chopper and took its inspiration from a number of sources. It features clean functional lines of medical machinery, 70’s and 80’s marker drawings and design (such as Big Trak), and a bit of manga thrown in.

The new concept is a purpose-built chopper featuring a long front suspension, feet forward seating position, and a large footprint. Powering this chopper - like most of the other concepts revealed recently - are two small electric motors, one built into each wheel hub helping lower the center of gravity, improve efficiency, and lower emissions.

The Future is Here.... Well... Not Quite: RYNO Micro Cycle

Ryno Personal Transport

So you see this thing and say: "wow, the future is here..." All those Sci-Fi and Anime movies with the crazy Mono Cycles and finally it's reality. Well, sort of. RYNO Motors Micro-Cycle looks the part. It's electric, But it only goes 15 MPH. Not even a scooter. It's a fancy Segway? I want to see this thing down the road at like 50 MPH or something. Hell, I can almost run 15 MPH. At $4,200, you can get a pretty nice motorcyle that looks futuristic and goes a lot faster.

French watchmaker Bell & Ross recently showed off their timepiece collections at the Traditional Jewelers Annual Watch Fair that included a first look at the Bell & Ross x Harley-Davidson Custom Nascafe Racer. The motorcycle was developed in collaboration with England’s most prolific Harley dealer, Shaw Harley-Davidson.

Shaw took the frame of a Harley-Davidson FXSTB Softail Night Train motorcycle and customized it with burnished and blue anodized metals and finished it up with touches of carbon fiber. The crowning piece for the bike that is uniquely Bell & Ross is the BR 01 Carbon timepiece that is mounted centrally above the bike’s fuel tank making for an all around awesome bike. Stay tuned to Bell & Ross to learn about a North American tour to show off this bike in the near future. Meanwhile take a look at photos of the mean Custom Nascafe Racer below.
