Get ready. 3 years in the making. This Saturday, June 27th, Kaws will release NO FUTURE COMPANION at Original Fake in Tokyo which is a sick, sick collaboration with legendary artist Hajime Sorayama. Produced and manufactured by Medicom. Despite the recession and SDCC just around the corner, I fear that come Saturday, the servers at Kawsone will melt in a hopeless barrage of page refreshes from fans, flippers, fanatics and fuckers alike. This thing is crazy. I'm off to sell my blood to get one.
The figure comes at the end of a three year process that started with Sorayama’s painted interpretation of KAWS’ iconic Companion figure in 2006. From there, KAWS and Medicom set forth with turning the image into a fully pose-able metal figure that comes on a removable stand. It will retail for $980,
