FANIME 2011...!
VampyGantz..!
Despite being rejected not once, not twice, but three times for a Press Badge, Kaiju Chronicle Joe and I spent the $35 for a day pass for FANIME today. The 3rd time, we got rejected in person by Milton Le, Director of Marketing. He basically said that any blogger that uses a free service such as Blogger or Live Journal is not really a "journalist" worthy of covering FANIME. I say ouch..! After blogging for over five years on toy culture that is directly related to Anime, I think toybot studios is more than credible enough to cover FANIME. Oh well, he wasn't going to budge so we didn't make too much of a fuss. He said they all like toybot studios, but rules are rules.
FANIME certainly has grown. Not as big as AnimeEXPO by a long shot, but still, not tiny either. It was held at the San Jose Convention Center and all the kids were definitely enthusiastic. For many, it's all about the Cosplay and that did not disappoint. Some amazing costumes. Artist's Alley is worth a visit, but the Dealer's room is the same ole by the same ole so not terribly interesting. Was it worth $35? No. Joe and I would have been better off saving our $$ and just hanging outside the convention taking pictures of all the Cosplayers. The lighting was better outside too.
More pics after the jump...
