Kris Kuksi @ Shooting Gallery, SF
I finally made it over to Shooting Gallery to check out Kris Kuksi's insane works of art. When you see pictures of these incredible pieces, you think they are larger than they really are. So when I saw this helicopter tank, it looked smaller for some reason than I thought it was going to be. as you can see, Kris' work is incredibly...insanely detailed. Like a kit-basher on a weeklong meth binge, Kris is able to take all kinds of little toys, model parts, vehicles, train accessories, dime store toys and assemble them onto these incredible platforms like tanks. It's one of the those things that you could stare at it literally for hours and still keep on seeing new things. Like hundreds of tiny scenes...stories being played out in front of you in a whimsical fashion. All you can do is set your camera to macro and try to capture as many scenes as possible. At $11,000 for this tank, were not talking toy money here.
The exhibit will run until April 25th so check it out next time you're in the city. Shooting Gallery. 839 Larkin Street, SF. Tue-Sat 12pm-7pm
a ton more pictures after the jump
Here is the second piece on display. It's almost a horrific HR.Giger thing going on...the density of textures and figures is unbelievable.
Here is the third and last piece at the show
Now this guy was already sold and gone by the time I showed up.

For some reason the Sagrada Familia by Gaudi always springs to mind when I see these, the muddy piling of stuff upon stuff, causing a thought overload?
yes, that's probably a good analogy especially when you see his Church Tanks which I think are amazing. I really wish he had one at the show. We were in Barcelona a couple of years ago and I have to say Gaudi is minimalist in comparison...lol..
