Last Saturday was the release of Bwana Spoons Bloodbath Edward the Gator at Double Punch. The Gator was cool for sure and it was definitely nice to see Bwana, Omar, Aki and Mark Nagata, but I wanted to check out Bwana's customs. He didn't disappoint as he brought a whole forest of hand painted creatures including Edwards and Killers. I had my eye on this GID Edward with the light blue spray and almost pulled the trigger, but couldn't due to other toy committments later in the evening. At $200 bones, Bwana's customs are not cheap, but nothing handpainted is. If you like them hurry over to Bwana's site above and get one for yourself. Your collection will thank you for the fresh breath of karma coming from Bwana's toys. Just don't get the GID Edward with Blue Spray!

How about this rad mural Bwana did for Double Punch!!??

By the way, congratulations to Double Punch for being voted the "Best Toy Store for Adults" In San Francisco by SF Weekly. No, not that kind of adult toy store, dirty! Here's the excerpt from SF Weekly:
Best Toy Store for Adults
Double Punch
1821 Powell (at Columbus), 399-9785, www.doublepunch.com
Get your mind out of the gutter because, despite a potentially misleading store name, North Beach emporium Double Punch doesn’t carry “adult toys,” simply toys for adults. The last few years have seen much innovation in the art of creating vinyl figures, originating in Asia. Artists design across a huge spectrum that ranges from fantastical Japanese anime heroes and cuddly monsters to actual American pop culture icons. Price points range from about five bucks to over $100, but even the small items have a certain craftsmanship. All have whimsy to burn. An extension of the online shop www.ningyoushi.com, Double Punch also carries publications and limited-edition flat art pieces. Of course, kids will appreciate many of these goods just as much — if only the adults in their lives will stop admiring the toys long enough to share.
