Dr. Bao and the NVC Crew Custom Dunnys!!!
Dr. Bao is apparently a real-life Canadian dentist that has taken his fine motor skillz to customizing 3" dunnys often featured on that oh, so cool urban vinyl daily: Vinyl Pulse. Hmmmm, I wonder if Dr. Bao can make one of my crowns look like a Dunny? Descriptions From the NVC Crew blog:
"Welcome to the blog of Dr.Bao art and the NVC crew customs toys!! NVC crew is compose by Dr.Bao and Spive. We're from Montreal, Canada. We just love to custom toys!!! NVC...Natural Vinyl... Crackheadz...Neurotic Vinyl Crackheadz... Nasty Vinyl Crackheadz!!! Have a nice trip!!"
This is the piece that introduce us in the toy custom industry.....Takashi!!! Takashi is a 3'' Dunny fully customize. It was shown to people at Kid Robot LA store and to John at Munky King toy store during my trip to LA for the La Luz de Jesus group show in which my smashed cans art was featured.
Here's our piece for the Gee Whizz exhibition in London. His name is Nakamura....a 3'' Dunny fully customize!!! Nakamura was sold at the opening night of the exhibition. Here's the link for the little featuring that Nakamura got on vinylpulse.com. Special thanks for Francine from vinylpulse.com for posting us up. We would also like to thank Sichi from vinylabuse.com for making us participate to the show.
So here's our latest custom....Shi Yan Cung the soulless and possessed warrior.....!!! It is made from a 3'' Dunny that we cut off the ears, so now it's like a 2'' Dunny!!! We want to create a kind of "peasant-warrior" that look soulless but at the same time cute......Cuteness was something that we still want to keep in the character...I think that the way we play with the colors and the shape of the eyes make the effect that we want to realize.Because we want to give our character more personnality and put him in a storyline, we decide to sculpt from scratch a mount of bones and skulls!!!! Everything is hand scuplted... We even try to give each skulls face an unique expression!!!!So hope that you enjoy the pics and give us some feedbacks...it's always a pleasure to read them!!!!
The following is a sneak peek in to Dr. Bao's even latest and more greatest creation which looks like a familiar old skool Robot. Check out the shots of the Dr. in action!!!
