Bandai is stepping up the Macross batter's box in a big way with these upcoming 1/60 scale die-cast, fully transformable Valkyries from the Macross Frontiers universe. Mecha buddy Akum6n from RobotxMonster was kind enough to burn me a copy of the series and I have to say that the mech designs in Frontier are probably my favorite Valkyries yet. I guess i'm just a sucker for all the extra armor and big jets.
I'm very curious to see how the fit and finish of the engineering on the transformation on these Bandai versions compare to the class Yamato toys. I still remember my first Valkyrie and I couldn't believe that it would really transform into all three modes without taking anything apart. Yamato truly had an engineering marvel. It will also be interesting to see how much die-cast vs plastic Bandai will invest in these guys. Being that they are priced at $175 each, these things are not cheap and for that price, they better be damn good. Just as good as the Yamato versions if not better. At least the Yamato versions are damn near all die-cast. Slated to hit your favorite Japanese toy importer in March.
The blue and white one above is the VF-25G Messiah Valkyrie Mikhail Custom . This is one of the few Valks that I really like in all three modes assuming all the armor and jets are present!
This green one is the RVF-25 Messiah Valkyrie Luca Custom
