Looks pretty good. Live Action Movie adaption of the crazy popular manga, anime Rurouni Kenshin.

Official Synopsis: Japan is about to enter the Meiji era and transition from the Middle Ages to industrialization. The samurai have no place in this modern society where warriors are less useful than traders. Unemployed, having lost the right to wear the sword, and facing guns and cannons, the samurai will gradually disappear into legend. Kenshin is one of such lost warrior. Once a grand master of the sword he is now a vagabond, wandering the roads of Japan. However, his chivalry and courage will make this one-time mercenary a loved and respected vigilante.

After just receiving the 1/12th versions of the Popbots finally the other day, i'll admit that despite my fondness for the Slicer TK, i'm not all the excited about these AP versions. Maybe it's collector fatigue, but buying the same toy in two different sizes is exhausting.

MEDICOM Devilman Repros

Medicom is about to release two interesting Devilman reproductions from the 70's in celebration of Devilman / Mazinger Z 40th Anniversary. What do you guys think about Repros? For many, the 1972 Devilman repro above is grail material. One collectors who lives in Japan has mentioned that he's been there 20 years, and has NEVER even seen the vintage Devilman above. Wow. Are repros good or bad for the hobby? I suppose it depends on who you ask. Hardcore vintage collectors may scoff at these repros, but personally I think they are great. It gives the vast, vast majority of collectors the opportunity to obtain (a reproduction of) the unobtainable. But will the flood of these somehow diminish the mythical allure of these vintage gems? I don't think so. For those that have the original, they are still the real deal. But there is something to be said that perhaps somebody searching for the original will somehow be satisfied with the repros? Maybe, maybe not. Conversely, there are those that get the repros and are so smitten with them that their hunt for the original increases? perhaps. Regardless, i'm getting both of them. I hear they will be available for pre-order in September for ¥7,800 yen each.

Super Magic Funtime Unit @ 5&A Dime feat. Grody Shogun, Paul Kaiju, Velocitron, Skinner and Itokin Park

I was looking forward to the Super Magic Funtime Show feat. Grody Shogun, Paul Kaiju, Velocitron and SKINNER all week long. This show was one of the big highlights of SDCC. Tons of toys, a fantastic taco stand outside and a great venue at 5&A Dime. There was tons of fans and toy lovers attending so it was a great reunion to see everyone. Had a blast. Great job to everyone involved to pull off this amazing event..!!
