Hot Toys Appleseed Snap Kits Trading Figures

Here's a set i've been waiting to show up for a while now. It's a case of ten (10) Appleseed Trading Figures by Hot Toys. The trading figures are blind box and you assemble the parts together hence the name "Snap Kits". The reason why I purchased a case was to get the Landmate Armor. Each trading figure comes with one or two parts of the Landmate that you then can assemble. The trading figures are around 4-5 inches tall, highly detailed and have lots of ariculation. I wouldn't describe them as your normal run of the mill trading figures. But the real money is with the Landmate. At 8-9 inches tall, ss you are putting this guy together, you know you have a nice toy. Probably one of the nicest toys i've had on my desk in a long time. This guy is hefty, contains some die-cast even! Highly detailed with a wonderful paint application in metallic blue with black and red highlights. The grooves are even painted in white to give it a very polished finish. The cockpit even opens to show Deunan Knute piloting it! A really beautiful toy that I would never expect to see in a case of normal trading figures.

The case costs $129. You are pretty much guaranteed to get all the parts for the Landmate. For 10 figures, that's $12.99 each. I would probably pay $80 for the Landmate alone. The question is the ten other figures worth the extra $50? Well, you have to have Briarios and Deunan of course. Both are very nice and highly detailed. So that puts you just over $105. The extra eight figures include a couple of doubles and the rest of the squad. More than I would want to pay, but overall, I would probably do it again just to get this Landmate.

Hot Toys Snap Kits: Appleseed Ex-Machina!!!

When I first spied these on Andy's ToysREvil blog, I got very excited. Not only were we going to see some affordable Ex-Machina action figures, but my wait is finally over for a toy Landmate!! I think the armored mech suits that our protagonists fly around in are some of the best mech designs out there!! But in order to assemble the Landmate, you have to buy several of the regular figures as only a piece of the Landmate is contained in each box. Bummer, but not that biggie as I pre-ordered a case anyways. I am a bit wary on the "Snap Kits" title as to me that means a model ala Bandai Gundam model kits. Which means fragile and takes time to put together. I hope this is not the case. Anyways, I stole some of these pics from ToysREvil cause Andy made them look all pretty. Thanks Man!! Should be out Q3 2008.

Appleseed Ex-Machina Toys and Trailers!!!

If you haven't seen the first Appleseed movie, do yourself a favor and get a copy right now. It's one of my all time favorite anime and one of the coveted movies that gets on my "Stranded on Island" list. Hopefully sometime early in 2008, we will get the DVD of the sequel, Appleseed Ex-Machina. Check out this cool trailer....





I'm a fan of movie, but have never been a fan of 12" toys. The so called 1/6 scaled figures. Dunno why. I used to have 12" GI Joe's and marveled at the detailed little guns and holsters and all that. I am amazed at the level of detail you have these days with 1/6 figures, but never was that interested in collecting them. But toy pollination has an interesting effect. Just like Andy over at ToysRevil may get the Kaiju itch once in a while, visiting his blog (where I first spied these toys) has prompted several looks and thoughts about obtaining my first 1/6 toy. I mean look at the complete bad-assness of Briareos in his 1/6 glory. Very hard to resist....thanks Andy.....!
