ok, this is some serious shit. I had no idea. The Morphy Auction of Mark Solondz' insane Japanese Toy Collection is now online for preview. I knew there was something like 1,455 lots of toys up for auction, but until you see the sheer volume of these toys, it's hard to comprehend. I only spent a second or so glancing at each lot and it still took me damn near an hour getting through all of the lots. Many of them had 5 or 10 toys deep...! This is the MOTHER of all Japanese Toy Auctions and i've heard there are even collectors flying in from Japan not to mention collectors from all around the US going to this shindig.

There is something for everyone. I was a bit surprised at how much new Japanese vinyl toys are included. It appears Mark used to collect a lot of the same shit we collect. He's got a shit load of vintage Popy die-cast toys, a fair bit of new modern robots including a healthy does of Valkyries. A ton of vintage Japanese tin toys and cars and Japanese Superhero figures. I didn't see a lot of vintage vinyl monsters or that many Jumbos.

I'm going to guess with this many lots, everyone who wants something should be able to get it at hopefully a pretty reasonable price. The starting bids are low and there is just sooooo much shit that I don't think even the ballers could afford to buy everything. There are more than one toys from my childhood that I am going to try and reclaim.... kudos to Alen, Sanjeev, Josh and the rest of the crew from ToyboxDX and CollectionDX for all their hard work in getting this set up.
