KIRKLAND JUE (TOYBOT STUDIOS)
Semi-Ninjin Bling, 2008
ESTIMATE $1,000-1,500
A custom adaptation of the great Japanese M-1 Co.’s classic Ultraman alien monster, Kaiju. Semi-Ninjin Bling immediately catapults us into various inspirations: the cross-identity of 1960’s Japanese sci-fi TV culture, Dashiell Hamett’s pulp tour de force “The Maltese Falcon”, and contemporary art’s absorption with art as commodity. How, you ask? By brilliantly covering the eight inch vinyl figure with 3,500 rhinestones! Mr. Jue has created the ‘never seen’ icon of our time, reminiscent Judy Garland’s ruby slippers, Michael Jackson’s glittering glove, and Damien Hirst’s “For the Love of God”.

This is quite Bling-o-licious. Guess San Francisco is finally making you one of it's own...
