I'm in full Game of Thrones mode. Best show on TV period. Maybe best show on TV ever? Any show that can force me to read the books is compelling stuff. Finished the 2nd book and now halfway through the 3rd. Anyways, Tim Hildebrandt's art made me think of GoT.

CURE Thorn Ball-Man

I've said it once, i'll say it again, CURE knows how to keep it fresh. This latest collaboration with the Japanese band "Thorn" is the latest example. They take the Boogie-Man body and each release change out a few elements like guts, limbs, head, mask, weapons, etc. Plus they pace out their releases so that each one is unique and not just six colorways of the same toy. Pretty sure they are not making much of their investment back, but who makes toys for the money?

Thorn Ball-Man has a new broken left arm with a gold pimp ring, 80's style shorts, a Mad Ball style head, but what makes this release stand apart is the spikey helmet and hammer complete with chain. Great toy.

RESTORE DEBRIS JAPAN Custom by ひろかず

I really like this custom RESTORE DEBRIS Japan by ひろかず. It's called DEBRIS ROBOT and he says it's based on his favorite animated cartoon and special effects hero. "He is a mighty man, but suck at fight." I see some Patlabor, maybe a bit of Gundam here. Really nice execution. The cape is a very nice touch.

MOSPEADA Technical Cut Away Illustrations

I'm a sucker for cut-aways. I love to see the guts, mechanics and innards exposed. Give me any toy that has this gimmick and i'm in. Would be cool if they made these MOSPEADA toys like this.

As pro-skateboarder in early 90s and started down the masters path of traditional Japanese tattooing from a very unique perspective, since then collecting almost 20 years of experience.

During this time period Toshikazu also realised the importance of conveying his perspective of Japanese spiritualism to as wide an audience as possible and thus begun working as an artists, exhibiting in several international galleries and amassing a respectable community of high profile collectors.

Toshikazu combines the time honored tradition of Japanese tattoo art with skateboarding, punk and contemporary iconography placing him as amongst Japans most unique contemporary artists.

Toshikazu also heads a Japanese skateboard brand named AsianWave.

Toshikazu exhibited along side fellow Shinganist artist Usugrow at Backwoods Gallery in July 2011 and performed a residency at Fox Body Arts Studio in Collingwood during his 2 week stay.

Just For One Day brings the brightly colored and inimitable world of Ferris Plock’s imagination into the public eye. The artist’s education in creative writing and literature reveals itself in the continuous creation of new characters populating Plock’s work, fully developed through a layering of unexpected details. The serene and structured aesthetics of traditional Japanese styles are fused with a rebel sensibility and feature appearances by Plock’s childhood heroes, drawn from an assortment of cartoons, comics and commercials. Both the recognizable characters and the expressive-eyed, long-toothed creatures from Plock’s own mind are infused with unmistakable personality. A mischievous glint in the eye or a hint of a smile belies the true nature of the figures Plock crafts with a visible sense of humor, bringing new life to familiar faces of pop culture.

Currents are the source of life and death. What lies beneath the surface is unseen and often forgotten, but it’s also where much light and magic can be found. This series of paintings explores the color, vibrancy, and luminosity of the deep. Angelic creatures serve as messengers of life. They examine undiscovered feelings hidden away from the obvious by bringing light to the darkest places. There’s much beauty in the dark and life is brighter than we think.

Martin Hsu is an artist and designer based in San Francisco. He takes much inspiration from nature, animals, and Hayao Miyazaki. The series of paintings he created for Undercurrents is based on the concept of life arising from death. It’s also infused with his fascination for vibrant and fantastical creatures from the deep. At this moment, he’s still pinching himself for having the opportunity to show a body of personal works at Giant Robot. He hopes this is not a dream.”

Lawrence Yang wrestles with informational abstractions by day and paints by night. Influenced by graffiti art and traditional Chinese painting, he employs ink, marker, and watercolor, as the permanence of this media adds a sense of immediacy to his work. Lawrence’s paintings make use of color to communicate atmosphere and emotion, and they are concerned primarily with creating order out of chaos (and vice versa). Lawrence once ate an entire bag of Fun Size Three Musketeers™. He lives in San Francisco with his imaginary pets, Cholo and Binky.
