Kaiyodo Revoltech BAPE Milo

a-bathing-ape-revoltech-yamaguchi-baby-milo-1

It was bound to happen. With Kaiyodo running out of characters to license for their Revoltech line, it was inevitable that something like this would happen. Why not? Revoltech Milo. Complete with camo guitar, BAPE lightning star logo, bananas and hat.

Two great things about this toy:

1. Limited articulation so you don't need to worry about posing him using those finnicky revoltech joints.

2. This is probably going to be the least expensive BAPE item you can buy. That is unless it's $250 or something whack like that.

Kaiyodo ASSEMBLE BORG Previews!!

ASSEMBLE BORG

Fucking Kaiyodo is at it again. Just when you think there couldn't possibly be another Revoltech license to do, they are launching an original line-up of characters and toys loosely resembling the venerable Micromen / Micronaut figures of your childhood. The hook is that they will come with a ton of weapons and accessories and even tools to help you mix and match every part to make incredible and insane figures, robots, and vehicles. Despite my love/hate relationship with Revoltech, i'm about to get into deep water with ASSEMBLE BORG. I purchased the first intro set at SDCC at a tiny table way in the back of the corner of the convention hall. Thanks to Jeremy, I found my way back to purchase the set. These are the stock pics at the bottom. Kinda bland looking B&W set, but it comes with a motorcyle so that ain't have bad.

The first set of pics are from Tokyo Toy Festival recently. This 3rd wave (yes, there are already 3 waves) is the most interesting IMO. They must be villians for me to dig them so much.

The 2nd wave which is not completely released yet are thankfully more colorful than the first and feature a Walder homage. You cannot go wrong with that. They sort of bring back memories of your OG Micromen, right?

this last guy is so cool, i could pee in my pants.

Here is Wave 1.

This colorway is deceiving. It looks clear grey, but in certain light, it appears clear purple. Color changing and very cool.

The motorcyle saves Wave 1 and it comes with a separate "Accessory Pack" that you are compelled to purchase.

New Revoltech Jin-Roh Figure!!!

TOY-RBT-0406_01 400x620

Every time I get a new Kaiyodo Revoltech figure in the mail, I may or may not open the box and try to pose it. Although I like the toys, I usually end up getting frustrated that I can't get it to pose just right...like in the pictures. Then I say to myself, ok, i'm done with Revoltech. That is, until something cooler comes along that I must have. Case and point, this Jin-Roh figure based on the manga and anime. One of the cooler characters with the slightly retro, kinda Nazi, futuristic uniform and armor. Seeing these pictures will undoubtably lead me to get yet another Revoltech figure. But at only $20, it's reasonable.

Revoltech Griffin J-9 with Aqua Unit!!!

TOY-RBT-0132_01 400x603

Here is the latest from Kaiyodo's cash machine that is Revoltech. This little bad boy is #45 in the series!! Damn, that's a small army!!! Griffin J-9 from the Patlabor universe with his Aqua Unit. I suppose it's his underwater jet pack. I love this mech's design and the Aqua Unit compliments the design well. Get your latest fix for around $20 at your local dealer or BigBadToyStore.

New Ayanami and Patlabor Revoltech Figures!!!

photo01

Kaiyodo's Revoltech machine continues to pump out new figures! Why not? They are cheap, super poseable and crazy addictive. You can't just buy one....

mainImg

You dig Ayanami, eh? Pervert...she's only a teenager...I mean a clone...I mean and alien....you're a sick bastard! I like her too. Especially in the plug suit and more importantly in Revoltech flavor which means all kinds of super.....flexible....poses.

Slightly less...um..exciting is the new Patlabor Revoltechs including Helldiver which I think is the coolest.

New Gaiking Revoltech!!

GDS-9546_01 400x564

Here's a sneak peek at the new Gaiking Revoltech figure. Forgive me if I don't know which anime, movie or universe this Gaiking variant comes from. Looks cool though. Kinda like that creepy Spidey suit that was all alive and turned into Venom....

New Revoltech Previews: Shin Getter 1 and Macross Valkyrie VF-1S Roy Focker

page-8317 400x485

Just a few stolen pics of the next two upcoming Kaiyodo Revoltech action figures. Do you they are damn near up to 40 of these little buggers? Jeebus! Work on getting those parts and limbs to stay on securely and we could get up to 100!! Getter fans get the beloved Shin Getter 1 in reasonable, racheted Revoltech goodness. I like the sculp and all, but not a big fan of the colorway. But you gotta love the accessories including the crazy bat wings, giant axe and Ryu-style fireballs.

Keeping up the momentum on the Macross Valkyrie line, we have one of my favorites, VF-1S Roy Focker. The skull and crossbones is the best part. Do you think he knows there have been two movies named after him starring Ben Stiller? On the Macross Revoltech figures: They don't transform. All Macross toys should transform. These don't. I just bought the Toynami version that are fully transformable into all three modes for the same price. Why would I buy these guys?

Revoltech: Buster Machine No. 19 Dix-Neuf!!!

IMG_0513

No doubt that Kaiyodo's Revoltech action figures are a hit. They are cheap at around $20 each and you can pose them in fourteen hundred different ways due to the ingenius racheted joint system and included stands. I have around fifteen of these figures and after busting out the first two including Dante from Devil May Cry and Getter 1, I haven't opened any of the others yet. This Dix-Neuf figure from Gun Buster 2 or Diebuster in Japan is the exception. I have always wanted this figure in some form. The fact that I had the chance with a $20 action figure was just too good to be true. It comes complete with his radical overcoat, signature spike bat and best of all, the skull face that goes on his back when he's not wearing the trench coat. It's awesome.

Now the bad news. While the joint system is indeed solid, the actual limbs are not very secure and pop out almost at will. In taking these shots, parts were falling off this guy like it was raining toys. Really frustrating. It made posing him a chore. I don't like chores. As it is now, any 10-year old (or 39-year old) will lose the limbs in about the first 2 minutes and never play with it again. If Kaiyodo could secure the parts and limbs a bit more in the future, we would have a super-solid toy that all ages could enjoy and play with for a long time.
