Finally got to meet Chris and Ainsley from Grumble Toy. Man, it's so true what they say about Canadians: they are the nicest people in the world. Chris and Ainsley are humble, down to earth and really chill. Super nice people. I'm digging the new cat called "Chubby Tough". You gotta love that expression.

Is the Neo Gorilla Hype Already Fading?

This morning at 7am PST, many an intrepid collector woke up to try and score the elusive Ilu Ilu x Grumble Toy ExclusiveNeo Gorilla. Apparently it was sold out in seconds. Grumble Toy being the nice Canadians they are is holding a second release at Noon today.

Looking at this figure and the $105 price tag not including shipping from Canada, I feel my wanton desires for it fading. Don't get me wrong, I still want it and will try to get one at noon. But I suspect I will fail and not feel all that bad about it.

Like everyone else, I went banonkers when pictures started showing up of this new toy from a new designer. It's fresh and what could be more awesome than a Gorilla in a military uniform with tiny tanks?

I'm afraid the hype is already fading. Why? The price is high. At $105 + shipping, this little guy is expensive. Were not talking about a large toy here. It's tiny. Like 4" inches tall. Slightly fatter than a Space Trooper. It's not Grumble Toy's fault. The Dollar sucks against the Yen, etc., etc. Toys from Japan are expensive. Some have suggested parallels to the Space Trooper craze. I believe the first ones that came in were hard to come by and probably just as expensive, but then they were easy to get and came in a ton of colors. I still love my little army. But they were half the price. At $40-$50, I would get a dozen or so of these Neo Gorillas. But I'm not sure if this will happen so with the price so high, my desire for them is fading fast.

So what to do? Pace out the releases every few months. Get the price down to $40-$50 each. Maybe less expensive packaging will help? Different heads, different arms with weapons? More tiny tanks and vehicles. I dunno, just my two cents.

超-cho (pronounced Chou-cho) the wing monster is the 3rd toy designed by Grumble Toy. He was sculpted by Ryuuji Kii of Amapro in Japan. As always, Chris and I are thrilled with the job that Amapro did. He always does a great job of giving the toys personality. 超-cho is a mini toy that is a similar size to Wormrah (approximately 3 inches tall).

Grumble Toy Exclusive Amapro Mecha Gorilla!

Exclusive Grumble Toy x Amapro Mecha Gorilla...!!

This Monday at 12 noon we will put up 2 exclusive versions of Amapro's Mecha-Gorilla. Those of you who were lucky enough to attend the ICFSB show in San Francisco may have seen a custom of this figure I painted for that show.

Both versions are painted by Ainsley and myself. The Blue, Green, and Red version is a color combo put together by our good friend Ryuuji Kii of Amapro. The peach version was dreamed up by us. Both versions are on milky white vinyl.

Grumble Toy x Amapro = Wormrah!!!

I've always been a fan of Ainsley's beautiful colored pencil illustrations that serve as mascots for Grumble Toy. How wonderful that they sent one of their designs to be realized in mini figure form by Japanese toy maker Amapro. Sculped by Ruuji Kii of Amapro and painted by Chris of Grumble Toys, this is truly a global collaboration! I have to say that this is one of those toys that you really have to hold in-hand to appreciate. The 3.5" size means he fits in with all the other mini figures on my desk. The sculp and paint application are pretty faithful to the illustrations. I'm definitely looking forward to more of Ainsley's illustrations to come to life!!

Killer J Smoking Star: Grumble Toy Exclusives!!!!

Grumble Toys x EXOHEAD = Boxting Day Mini Galtan!!

Grumble Toy busts out with another exclusive Japanese toy. This time with EXOHEAD and his uber popular mini Galtan. Looks like a pink GID? Will it glow pink?? That would be pretty cool...To be released on Boxing Day which is celebrated in more civilized countries the day after Christmas. The ritual is for the rich to "box" up their gifts and give them to the poor. Sounds good. I'll be waiting for my Galtan in the mail Chris!

New TTToys Painted Sculps!!!

One of the guys (3x3is9) on Skullbrain is Canadian and is the purveyor of an interesting little online store called Grumble Toy. It's interesting cause not only does he carry Gargamel, more importantly, I think he could be the only guy in North America that stocks TTToys. This is a big deal cause these little bastards go lickity split. For example, i'm a TTToys fan and I look out for them, but I completely missed the all clear versions and the first wave of their painted clear versions of their two new sculps Jequlinan and Gerugo!! Hell, I didn't even have decent photos of them...until now cause I stole them off Grumble's site! He's out of these guys, damnit! Check back soon as he is re-stocking. Some day soon these will be mine!! Alos check out the other TTToys he has including the the Blue and Red Grus and even some Prodons!
