Near the end of the Old War, a small squadron of Gobons had been given the ability to think freely, with no limitations, to make them more creative killing machines. Because of this freedom, these Gobons would sometimes questions their superiors.

With the help of London’s newest menswear bastion Hostem, proprietor James Brown and prestigious eyewear brand Oliver Peoples, The Doctor Romanelli brand unveils its newest creation: Dr. Goodfellow. Darren Romanelli (DRx) is a pioneer of aesthetic innovation, renowned for reviving cultural classics by twisting the familiar into the fresh. He applies a unique signature blending of past and present to each new creation with passion, dedication, commitment and, most importantly, personal connection. His latest project fuses elements of the Victorian era with the fantastic mythological characters from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.



With an edition size of just 10 pieces, the statuettes are truly rare collectibles. Exquisite features lend the figurines a sense of detail rarely found in bronze art of this scale, including scissors, stethoscope and a custom jewelry-quality monocle with chain produced by Oliver Peoples. Standing approximately 14 inches tall, Dr. Goodfellow is offered in three finishes. Six are made in a traditional bronze patina, which will continue to gain character as the surface interacts with the atmosphere over time. Two are triple-plated in Sterling silver overlaid with nickel to prevent tarnishing, and the final two are triple-plated in 18k Gold making a total limited edition of 10. Wearing a classic top hat and stately Oliver Peoples monocle, Dr. Goodfellow helps keep the magic in medicine and offers just what the doctor ordered! Dr. Goodfellow will be available at select stores worldwide in November, including the Dr. Romanelli Prescription Shoppe at Hostem and Maxfield in Los Angeles.

Real x Head Shinto Gangu Online: US First Release!

The first release of exclusive toys from the brand new online store of RealxHead USA proves without a doubt that RealxHead is not dead. Not by a longshot. I don't care who you ask. They don't know shit. As Mori, Don, Matt, Jason, etc. work out the online store, the first releases were sold via email lottery. While not terribly unusual, since there were several choices in very limited numbers, everybody didn't get exactly what they asked for. I'm ok with the email lottery, but hope that they figure out a better way for future releases. While I didn't enter the lottery this go around, I'm really looking forward to seeing what's next.

Time with Lorne. Toy Tokyo NYC

Lorne talking about Blind Boxes reminded me of the last visit to Toy Tokyo five years ago. I had to dig deep for this post:

On a recent trip to Toy Tokyo in New York, I looked at the Metal Gear Solid trading figures and thought there is only one that I didn't want out of the entire series which was the lame computer girl Emma. Of course, I got her. I was pissed, but I was compelled to buy another one so I wouldn't leave disappointed. So I bought another one and got Emma again. I was beside myself at this point and I knew I couldn't leave without one figure that I liked. I wanted to buy another one, but this time the guy behind the counter let me bend the box so I could see inside and it was another Emma! I was bummed and after shelling out $10 each, I just left both Emma’s behind.

Real x Head Show at Kaiju Blue Gallery

Mori from RealxHead had a show the other day at the Kaiju Blue Gallery. Man, looked like quite a show. all I have to say is more RxH x Skull Toys Dokurocks collaborations! I want that blue and black version. The other thing is that those one-offs by Kazariya Minokichi in the clear purple Evils are insane. I vote for more Evils in clear puple vinyl.

Another un-expected highlight for me at NYCC 2010 was the Ron English Show. Say what you will about his toys, but his art is mind-blowingly awesome. The venue really added to the ambiance. It was a pop-up gallery in a trendy neighborhood and it was pretty big. Three floors. Really open space with high ceilings. One had a lot of room to check out the artwork. The detail in Ron's work is amazing.

Nistuff x Onell Design....!

At SDCC this year, I spied these custom Onell Glyos figures that were awesome. I thought they were prototypes or something that Matt sculpted, but they were done by this kid Nick aka Nistuff. I purchased all three on the spot. So when I had the chance to meet him in NYCC, I bought a bunch more. Based on the Glyos figures, Nick's look like they come from the same Universe. Similar, but different. They look more organic. The paint jobs are also really interesting. Some matte with a wash, some glossy. Nick also incorporates integrated weapons onto the arms which adds a nice touch. Check 'em out. You will want more.
