Donnie Yen: 14 Blades Trailer

film-14blades 400x559

Donnie Yen is a badass. If you haven't seen him in the the wonderful IP Man Biopic, you're missing one of the best martial arts movies ever. I'm now looking forward to this period film called 14 Blades. Donnie getting down with a box full of swords. Seems a bit awkward, but ok. Look for it in 2010

Ganmetall Celsius Custom Gunpla Figure 2: Zaku II

gunzak

As inevitable as "ping" after "pong" or "peanut butter" after "jelly", we have the 2nd figure in Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica's Gunpla Tribute Series: Zaku II...!! Of course. Only released in an edition of 2 so you Gunota's better head over to Rotobox's site and get yours! I really like what they have done with both of these customs. Not too over the top. Spencer still maintains much of the original design of his Ganmetall Celsius figure and just adds enough to make you realize you are looking at the Gundam universe.

Cris Rose Salvage Brambles

Cris Rose Salvage Brambles

I'm digging these new custom Brambles from Cris Rose. Cris always has a great backstory to go along with his creations too. Three in this series available now for $220 each at Cris' Online Web Store

The Federation of Robots for Ethics and the Environment (FREE) started off as a couple of guys that found a Bramble in a ditch.

Seriously damaged with it's head blown off, the skirmish that had left it there in that state had long moved to pastures new. It seemed such a shame to leave it there to rust, but there was far too much missing and not enough spare parts to return it to it's former glory. Even the robust A.I. systems were shot.

From that Bramble came the first Salvage bot. Built from 80% of a Bramble (give or take), his body was fully reconfigured and his brains rebuilt from what was at hand. The final touch was a fractal algorithm was applied to his programming to truly randomise his personality, making him unique and as unpredictable as any human!

Luckily for FREE, the first Salvage Bot was friendly and helpful. This proved to be somewhat of a default state for an intelligent being, something discovered as more and more parts were retrieved from the battlefields to construct more Salvage bots.

There was the odd one that had an attitude problem tho, one that couldn't bare to be separated from a weapon of some sort - these were named after angry bugs, like WASP and deployed to protect the rest of the crew if need be. Mostly they just fired blanks, but the noise and mad flailing was enough to diffuse most situations... even if that was through laugher.

The Salvage Bots, while not smart enough to be set loose and determine their own purpose (FREE's AI routine reconstruction would never match up to Rothchild's original solution), they served for a long time as the backbone of the repair and release program that FREE started all those years ago.

More Dropcloth Please? Thank You!

ja21 400x533

More pics of the upcoming 3A Toys Dropcloth. Apparently he's not wearing a skort or a skirt or an apron, but a "Kilt" as in Celtic Kilt. Cool, but where's the plaid?

Avatar AMP Suit Maquette Pre-Order Up at Sideshow Collectibles

082409_avatar_1 400x599

I saw this beast at SDCC last summer and I have to say it's pretty awesome. It's huge. stands 21" tall x 18.5" wide. weighs in a over 12 pounds. Very impressive piece. Well, it's up for Pre-Order at Sideshow Collectibles. Only 500 will be made. Due out 2nd Quarter of 2010. This bad boy will set you back $1,200. It's also a maquette which I think is like a statue basically. I'm not sure if anything is articulated or if you can actually play with it. I'm guessing not. I think if i'm gonna throw down $1,200, I wanna see fucking LED's, tons of die-cast, the pilot should be articulated so you can put him in the cockpit, missle firing, etc. Yes, that's right, I want a very high-end toy.
