Daniel Goffin x Max Toy Co. Mini Eyezon with Candy Guts..!

Daniel Goffin x Max Toy Co. Mini Eyezon

Check out the entire process HERE

Daniel Goffin X Max Toy Mini Kaiju Eyezon Project

Warning: This is a Art Project ! We do not advise you to eat the contents. Due to the potentially toxic nature of vinyl degassing we can not recommend the consumption of the candy inside. Do not eat the toy either!

Limited to 10 pieces, custom painted figures, each hand numbered and signed. Artist Daniel Goffin has created a fantastic vision of a clear Eyezon with internal guts.

Daniel has hand sculpted guts for Eyezon that are so prefect they fit like a puzzle into the figure.

Each gut piece using food grade silicon molds were cast in pieces using isomaltose sugar, glazing agent and other ingredients. Each hard piece was than wrapped in food grade mylar plastic and inserted into each figure.

Here's what Daniel says about this project:
" I think it is necessary to educate people about the potentially toxic nature of vinyl gases. On the other hand many people eat a lot of unhealthy food on a daily basis. They are candy guts but it is also an art project that plays with the temptation of consumption. "

You may be tempted but we do not recommend eating the guts but rather enjoying how pretty they look inside the figure ;-)

$80.00 plus shipping and tax if a California resident. Via the Max Toy Co web store on Wed. May 25th, 2011.

Eyezon Painting by Daniel Goffin for Max Toy Co.'s 5th Anniversary

goffin eyezon 400x276

Daniel Goffin:

First, an illustration that I made for the 5th anniversary celebration of Mark Nagata's Max Toy Company which will be start in Tokyo April 2nd and 3rd at Design Festa Gallery. The show will continue April 23rd at San Francisco's Double Punch Gallery.

We (the participants) were asked not send in customized toys but instead come up with our own interpretations of the protagonists and antagonists of Mark’s fictional universe. It was not long ago that I came across the website captainmaxx.com which shows various (fake) vintage cases of packing design, tin toys and photos about Captain Maxx – Mark’s own version of Japan’s most well known superhero: Ultraman. I liked the approach so much that I felt inspired to create my own attempt at turning Captain Maxx and his enemy Eyezon into a fake ukiyo-e print suggesting that the hero and his adversaries might actually be rooted in Japanese folklore, albeit relatively unknown.

The diptych is painted on two panels of grey cardboard using ink, acrylics, brushes and airbrush. Each panel is slightly larger than A4 (ca 8×12 inch). Prints will also be available.

Plaseebo x Goffin Nightgamer

Daniels customs were inspired by his take on Chapter 2 of the Night Gamers backstory, as follows:

"NIGHT GAMERS" Chapter 2 copyright bob Conge 2006

Those arriving here during daylight hours quickly realized their delicate pink skin would not tolerate the more intense infrared rays of the Sun in our Universe. While the NIGHT GAMERS had no need of clothing, as we know it, in their parallel Universe, it became clear they would need some sort of protection while here.

After spending the afternoon in the shade of a hollow tree, the two NIGHT GAMERS went in search of food as night fell and stopped to drink from a garden of morning glories that had been coaxed open by the full moon. Nectar was the only food source they had ever known and having no need to consume any living plant or animal served to reenforce their Buddhist view of life as they moved through the environment disturbing as little as possible with the belief they should encounter all things in the order that life experience would present them.

The pair left the garden fully fueled with faces covered in bright yellow pollen and found their way that first moon lit night to a toy factory in the outskirts of a small town located in the Finger Lakes area of upstate New York.

As luck or faith would have it, this toy factory was known throughout the country for its Teddy Bears and upon gliding through an open second story window, the pair could see illuminated in the cool lunar light these furry creatures in various stages of completion lying on the long wooden assembly tables.

Hovering above a section of the wide table they looked down at the flat furry, yet to be filled brown suits. Slipping into their new duds they found the bears eye covers had yet to be painted allowing them to see perfectly through the clear lenses. They had only to retract their probes for a perfect fit.

Having been a rather eventful day and night they curled up in a very comfy half full box of finished Teddy Bears and soon drifted off into dreams of their homeland Earth.

Daniel Goffin: Charlize Harlow x Glyos Buildman Rotopol Exclusive

from Daniel Goffin

This edition of 10 was cast in green resin with clear grey Onell Design Glyos Buildman parts and painted with Monster Kolor color change automotive effect paint. Each has been signed and numbered, of course. The toy will be available first at the Comic Festival in Hamburg this weekend (23.09.2010 – 25.09.2010). Remaining units will be sold online for €30 each via rotopolpress.de later on next week.

And for those unfamiliar with the background story, here is recap: Charlize Harlow was the first of a line of self-conscious and autonomous programs developed for stealth information gathering missions. Nearly undetectable through her shape shifting abilities and equipped with multi-dimensional-meta-syntax analysis subroutines made her the state of the art intelligence tool. However, she never returned from her first mission. It has been impossible to determine whether she has been simply hacked and hijacked or if she decided to vanish on her own...

Metamorphin Capsule Toys by Daniel Goffin

Metamorphin Capsules by Daniel Goffin

These tiny sculptures are cast in isomalt a sugar substitute frequently found in pharmaceutic and diet products. The mold is also made from food safe silicone and the capsules are made from gelatine. So basically the whole product is edible (sans the packaging, of course). However, I still wouldn't recommend swallowing it in one piece because well, I haven't tested the effects...

Metamorphin comes in a handmade blister capsule packaging and a handmade box. There will be 10 different sculptures out of which 2 will be less often and one will be a chase. I will take care not to have a set of only one sculpture but I can not promise that there won't be doubles. No single purchase will be possible. The first run of 20 will be released at my show at LA's Toy Art Gallery. LINK

Background story: After body modification nano-technology had become not only common but also fashionable one company quickly seized the opportunity to offer the ability to buy cheap, timed capsules with the ability to enhance the body and mind in almost every way imaginable. Metamorphin advertise themselves with low cost and highly satisfied customers while at the same there is very little known about longterm and side effects...

Daniel was kind enough to send me this amazing gift. It's his Maneki Tora figure cast in the same crystal sugar material. Very fragile as one of the arms broke off, but so amazing... The packaging is awesome too...Thanks Daniel!!

Toy Art Gallery Presents: NETWERK & MASASHINTO TECH, New Works by Daniel Goffin & Martin Osuna

Netzwerk and Masashinto Tech

Toy Art Gallery is proud to present Netzwerk and Musashinto Tech – New Works by Daniel Goffin and Martín Osuna. The show will feature a variety of original figural works and multiple editions featuring their incredibly vivid and exceptionally crafted three-dimensional figures. This exhibition marks the U.S. solo debut for both Daniel Goffin (who hails from Kassel, Germany) and Martín Osuna (Pilar, Argentina), as well as being the inaugural show of our gallery.

Daniel’s work focuses on the combination of man and technology, and the freedom and limitations such a fusion creates. His characters take design cues and citations from varied aspects of pop-culture: Haute-Couture fashion, cartoon character design of the 1930’s, Japanese animation and special effect TV-series. Daniel studied Manga at Kyoto Seika University, Japan and graduated from the School of Art and Design in Kassel, Germany with a degree in Visual Communication.

About Netzwerk: “Forty years into the future amazing developments in nano-technology have finally given humanity the freedom to choose a body of their own design. Cartoon characters as well as bodies reminiscent of old robots are common and normal sights. The barrier between the digital and analogue world has completely vanished with everyone being connected to the networks all day and night whether they are awake or asleep. The physical space-time-continuum hasn’t lost it’s importance but instead has gained new levels of possible experiences.”

Daniel Goffin’s website: danielgoffin.com

Martín’s work stems from his childhood fascination with action figures. As he grew older he came to the see them as something new, as Idols or Saints of a new secular pop religion. He now sculpts his own “idols” that cater towards his new interests, creating a variety of samurai robots and mecha-inspired designs that pay tribute to Japanese historical figure Musashi Miyamoto, a self-taught artist with whom he identifies with. Martín is one of the founders of the art collective RAYO LAZER and the workshop/gallery of the same name

About Musashinto Tech: In catastrophic desperate times, when the end is near, only the secret sacred clan of Musashinto has the power to restore order in the multidimensional scheme. The titans have awakened once again, and our last chance is to trust that the Mecha Samurai Shintoist Monks of the order will save us.
