Gargamel at SDCC 2014

Yes, Gargamel....!!  The stuff of dreams. Another major reason to endure the madness that is Comic Con. Most of us have been collecting Gargamel for years now and I don't think my enthusiasm for their toys has ever wavered. Comic Con is the one big opportunity each year that you can buy their one-off customs. This year they introduced a new figured called Garudan. It's a new bird-like head on the Deathra body with new fiery wings. I normally don't like any toys with beaks but I have to admit, the thing grew on me and I ended up purchasing one. Most of the heads were clear with an inner head which was very cool.  If you notice, some of them have a 3rd eye on the forehead just like Game of Thrones. cool....

Probably the best Deathra at the show. Carl was lucky enough to snag it.

This the Garudan that I ended up choosing. c'mon. you gotta love this guy. I love the clear vinyl with the translucent purple sprays. The clear heard with the pink highlights is awesome. I'm really glad I picked him up. Good companion figure to all my other Deathras.

Now I already regret not purchasing this Deathra painted by Naoya.  Really love the colorway.

A Fist Full of Dominoes Show by Paul Kaiju SDCC 2014

Todd and Paul above.  One of the main reasons I went to Con this year was for the Paul Kaiju show. It is one of the #1 priorities of the entire convention. This year it was at Gunnzo which is a toy store in Old Town which provided a nice excuse to get out of downtown.  It was great. It really felt like a house party complete with a backyard where everyone could hang out. Totally classy affair. Paul catered the event so there was tacos with homemade tortillas. Like she made them right in front of you fresh. So yummy.

Mini Goons very popular. Gone quickly.

Everyone loves the mixed parts mockbats.

Mr. Ree and Alien Ree. I really like the Alien Ree

Giant King Jinx

Milky Mockbat blindbag with chase variant. both are rad.

But the star of the show is Domino Jack. Everything I love about toys is represented right here.

Thanks to Joe who got called early and hooked me up. In return when I got called, I picked him up the Alien Ree which was his first choice.  Karma!

I'd love to see the Mock Pilot get the clear vinyl treatment one day.

The man himself.  Class act.

Paul really outdid himself this year. He painted over a hundred toys. Enough so that everyone who attended got something and probably even got two toys by the end of the evening. Such a great event. Todd, Mel and Paul did a great job.  Thanks to Chika at Gunnzo for hosting the event at her store too..!

Tough Guys Only: Bwana Spoons x Kiyoshi Nakazawa x Martin Ontiveros SDCC 2014

Another booth that I spent a lot of time at is the "Tough Guys Only" booth featuring Bwana Spoons, Kiyoshi (Lucky) Nakazawa, Martin Ontiveros and the Gargamel crew.  Such great guys. Super talented and have a love for all things cool.

My very first purchase. Mutant Vinyl Hardcore Ollie painted by Martin Ontiveros.  Gotta love the colorway.

Martin thought to himself: "I wonder if Kirkland will like these colors"  yes..!!

Was very tempted to pick up this Ojo Rojo too. But I didn't want to be a complete jerk
