McFarlane Series 29 Has a Couple of Goodies!!!

Todd McFarlane is the man. I was playing golf with this contractor who said they were working on Todd's San Francisco pad, South of Market. He apparently bought like five (5) lofts costing upwards of $1 million each which make up the entire top floor of the building and is gutting them and putting them all together for one, massive Spawn-gasmic toy pad! It was his early Spawn figures that helped get me back into collecting action figures. I still cherish my silver variant Manga Spawn with the Kanji on the sword! Although we don't normally feature McFarlane figures on toybot studios, I still have a soft spot in my heart for these hyper-detailed, super realistic, expertly sculpted action figures. For me, I kinda stopped collection McFarlane figures a while ago. No particular reason. Just not feeling the McFarlane love anymore. There are lots of toys to buy and a limited amount of resources - you have to make choices. Well, devoted McFarlane fans, Series 29 is here and there are a few figures that stand out for me: Disciple, Thamuz and Zera. It's figures like these that can easily persuade me to collect McFarlane all over again! Descriptions and photos from Spawn.com

DISCIPLE
SPAWN SERIES 29: EVOLUTIONS

Heaven's "first and greatest warrior," the Disciple, is a powerful new force to be reckoned with -- one that tore Spawn to pieces in their first encounter. With such beings aligning themselves against him, the future looks bleak for Spawn. (First appearance: Spawn #150)

THAMUZ
SPAWN SERIES 29: EVOLUTIONS

A hulking demon who possesses the unique skills Spawn's enemies need in order to learn Al Simmons' hidden secrets. Thamuz is the Master of Tortures and will stop at nothing until he discerns the mysteries buried deep within Spawn's soul. Pain and anguish are in Spawn's future, and it is Thamuz's great pleasure to be the provider of such things. (First appearance: Spawn #150)

ZERA
SPAWN SERIES 29: EVOLUTIONS

A new angelic warrior. Feared not only by the armies of the Underworld, but also by her own kind. Zera may be the last best defense against those who seek to claim the throne of Heaven as their own. As a soldier for the forces of Light she will no doubt come into conflict with Spawn before all is said and done. (First appearance: Spawn #154)

Takara MicroWorld 1/144 Votoms Series Preview!!!

Takara is the master toy maker of all things really, really tiny. If you live in the U.S., you are probably very familar with their "MicroMachine" series in which they made almost every vehicle imaginable into these teeny-tiny toys about the size of a small grape. Hugely popular in Japan for obvious reasons, they have now got their hands on the Votoms license and will be turning out teeny-tiny 1/144 scale Votoms and vehicles! I say bring it on by the dozen!!! These things are so tiny that you can easily fit four or five of them in your palm, yet they are pretty detailed as you can tell from the pictures. They will be released in September and retailing for around $5 each or get a case of them for $60 and gobble them up like potato chips!!! Check out the little guys at Japan-toys.com

S.I.C. Takumi Damashii SP Collection Sneak Peek!!

I found this picture on YesAsia.com of what looks to be sketches of the upcoming S.I.C. Takumi Damashii SP Collection due out at the end of the summer. From the looks of the drawings, we could be having a Kikaider, his girlfriend, Hakaider, Masked Rider Ryuga and looks like another Hakaider motorcycle which is all good with me! Check back for more updated pictures as soon as I get my grubby hands on them!

UPDATE: From the Play.com message boards, it looks like the upcoming S.I.C. Takumi Damashii SP collection will include the following nine figures:

1.BLUE HAKAIDER
2.RED HAKAIDER
3.SILVER HAKAIDER
4.BLUE HAKAIDER BIKE
5.RED HAKAIDER BIKE
6.SILVER HAKAIDER BIKE
7.KUUGA ULTIMATE FORM
8.KIKAIDER PERFECT VER
9.BIJINDER & SIDECAR

All I have to say to that is: PRE ORDER!!!!

"Don't Forget The Ears! Spock Can't Get His Ears All Burnt Up"

Sadly, this is what I believe is the last G4 TV Star Trek Spoof commercial using 12" figures. It's not quite as funny as the other two, but humorous nonetheless. Check out Capt. Kirk's expression when asked to rub Spock with lotion. Classic!

Konami Mecha Musume Girls Vol. 1 Review and Gallery

I first discovered Konami's Mecha Musume Girls from the magazine Hobby Japan. I don't normally collect cutesy anime type figures, but these little sweethearts are different. They are apparently part mecha as well! Interestingly, were not talking Gundam, Sci-Fi mecha either, were talking old skool WWII plane and tank mecha! AFter closer inspection, you will see that they are not entirely girl either. They have some feline parts as well. If I may, they seem to have a little pussy...cat in them! Sorry, couldn't resist. They have WWII tank or plane limbs, girl heads, with cat ears and tail! Very interesting and really cool. In case you missed my preview article on the newly released Mecha Musume Girls Vol.2, CLICK HERE!!! I'll be doing a review and gallery of those babies very soon so check back cause I also have a few extra left over from the case I purchased that I will be adding to the toybot studios eBay store.

Back to the girls of Vol.1: Since I discovered Vol.2, there had to be of course, a Vol.1 so with a quick search on eBay, I found a set kinda reasonably priced out of Singapore which I ordered and am reviewing today. The first thing I would like to say is that Konami produces a quality figure. They are only around 4 inches tall so they qualify in my book as a trading or mini figure. They come in a blind assortment, but if you buy a case or a set on eBay, you don't have worry too much about this. Yes, I hate blind assortments too. Don't get me started. The sculp on these little chick-a-dees is very detailed but its the paint and finish which I admire the most. You can have a nice sculp, but if the paint job is no good, it just ruins the figure. Case-in-point would be a very bad set of Evangelion Type-F trading figures that I purchased and have not bothered writing or photographing. Ugh! They are terrible. They look a lot better in the pictures than real life. Frankly, I want these little bastards off my desk as they are taking up valuable space! Luckily, this is NOT the case with Konami's Mecha Musume figures. As I mentioned, the sculp is outstanding, but the paint is superb! The finish comes in this very smooth matte appearance that is just awesome on these little figures! The eyes and face tell it all. Just adorable! For all you Hentai Otaku out there, each figure comes complete with a teeny-tiny panties peeking underneath the armor! Vol. 1 comes with two tank girls and three airplane chicks. I believe it's an Allied tank, a British tank, a Russian MIG, a Japanese Zero and another Allied airplane. Enjoy the gallery and check back later for pics of Vol. 2!!!

MORE Kaiyodo Revoltech Evangelion Figures Previews!!!

Kaiyodo has some updated pics of the upcoming Evangelion action figures. I think Kaiyodo has a winner on their hands with this new Revoltechnology. By now you guys know that the first three action figures have been released which include Dante from Devil May Cry, Getter Robo and Dougram. I've received my Getter and Dante and will be doing a full review and Gallery next week. Without going into too much detail, suffice to say that these little bad boys are very cool! Two thumbs up! I can see Kaiyodo licensing a HUGE number of characters for this line of super-posable action figures. I'm all for it! More weapons, more posability, more characters, more licensing! I've already pre-ordered all three flavors of Evangelion you see below plus the latest addition to the line-up: King Gainer. I'm really looking forward to busting these guys out when they arrive. Check back for the reviews and gallery! Pictures courtesy of Hobby Link Japan. I ordered mine at Twin Moons Anime for around $20 each.
