Max Toy Co. and Dead Presidents team up once again with Sunguts and Dream Rockets to showcase "Kaiju Invades Harajuku" this month at Design Festa...!

Bling Bling Holiday Custom Show at Kaiju Blue Gallery!!

From what i can gather, it looks like a charity show was held at the Kaiju Blue Gallery over the holidays featuring artists such as BLObPUS, Vinyl Junkies, Sunguts, Gargamel and Kaijin. It looks like the theme was bling, bling or jewell, feathers and glitter. Regardless, I like it a lot!!!

Interview with Junichi Yajima of Dream Rockets

Part two of our interview series, we have the charismatic Junichi Yajima from Dream Rocket. Such a nice guy. Great sense of humor. A flair for the dramatic as a result of his acting background. Yajima-san belongs in an Ultraman movie. He loves the OG Kaiju and it shows in his toys. Thanks again to Mark Nagata for arranging, Mark Miyake for the awesome translation and Daniel Akum6n for some of the questions.

Dream Rocket
Junichi Yajima was born and raised in Japan. Like many children of his generation,Yajima-san grew up with Godzilla, Ultraman and many other types of Superhero and Kaiju shows. After developing a strong background in several different careers, Yajima-san established his own toy company, called “DREAM ROCKET”. He has been producing fabulous Kaiju figures and has a very loyal following in Japan and around the world. Yajima-sans work has appeared and sold in numerous Phillips De Pury auctions in New York and London. Yajima-san said " I am having fun making Kaiju toys but I truly love Kaiju more than making figures out of them".

Interview with Tadayoshi Ichimiya of Sunguts...!!!!

Sunguts
Tadayoshi Ichimiya was born in Hyogo-Ken, January 1969. He entered college in 1987 and made various self-directed movies while he was attending. In 1991, he got hired by the company that makes ads in Tokyo. While there he worked as a director. and made many TV commercials, VPs and designed characters for it. In 2000, he started producing his own soft vinyl figures. In 2003, he became a freelance director and has been spending more time on the production of figures and projects.In 2007, he made a figure for the TV show called “KAETTEKITA-JIKOKEISATSU (TV ASAHI/MMJ)”. In 2008, he had his first personal exhibition 'SUNGUTS MUCHA-FESTA' at Design Festa Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.

We had the honor of sitting down with Tadayoshi Ichimiya of Sunguts the other night to ask him about his toys and special secret upcoming sculps. Find out what Suiko are. He's a super nice guy with a passion for toys and a great sense of humor that is obvious when you look at his work. Thanks to Mark Nagata for arranging, Mark Miyake for translating and Daniel from RobotxMonster for help with the ideas around the questions. I'm also a little bit embarassed as Ichimiya-san is a professional videographer. His work in the above video is amazing. My editing skills below highlight the stark contrast. I just want you to know that he had nothing to do with the editing on the interview below....lol.

wow, this weekend was pretty crazy. It was raining quite a storm, but there was lots of Kaiju action..!! Most of the weekend revolved around the Kaiju Invades San Francisco Show featuring Sunguts, Dream Rocket, Dead Presidents and Max Toy Co held on Saturday at Ningyoushi.

This week is gonna be choc full of pictures and video including:

But first, Mark Nagata had a small gather of collectors and fans at his house to welcome Yajima-san from Dream Rockets, Ichimiya-san from Sunguts and Matt Walker of Dead Presidents. Of course, we all couldn't help but stare at his insane collection for the better part of the evening. This is Mark's new secret headquarters. You might remember, the first interview at the old Ultraman HQ over 4 years ago...! Picture below...
