A very limited number of Garakutagigas toys in RED vinyl have arrived and will be ready to ship in early October. The standard edition is called Red Mercury and will be painted in metallic green, silver, gold and purple. There will be only 15 pieces of the standard edition available, priced at $125 each, one per customer please. In addition, 5 pieces will be painted as one-offs and available by lottery; the price is $250 each.

Alex Wald Brings Fire and Storm GARAKUTAGIGAS to SDCC 2011...!!!

One of the highlights of SDCC for me was meeting up with Alex Wald of Astromonster to check out his test paints of his GARAKUTAGIGAS collaboration with Altelier G-1. He is releasing two versions: Fire and Storm. I was a bit worried about the Storm version because the previous pictures didn't show the depth of color. I am happy to report that both versions are pure awesomeness and if you are lucky enough to get either, you will be a very happy collector indeed. There are just a couple left so if you want one, better get your pre-order in NOW...!!

Alex Wald GARAKUTAGIGAS Colorway No. 1: Storm....!!!

Check out Alex Wald's 1 of 2 colorways of the GARAKUTAGIGAS that he designed and is now being produced in conjunction with Altelier G-1. Alex is doing a dark and light version of the toy in the Marusan / Bullmark tradition. This "Storm" version is the dark colorway. Green base with gold, silver, red and black. Very limited quantities. The 2nd colorway will be revealed soon. Pre-Orders for both will go up on July 20th so keep check back here or Astromonster

GARAKUTAGIGAS Update....!!!

Interesting update from the Altelier G-1 blog showing a translucent milky white goggles and tail.

The first phase started producing junk Gigas color. Molded in light gray color packaging is easy to paint, eyes foreign capital back, the tail is white milk. This is to allow for Illuminated goggles, this bonding process after the body so it can be difficult. I think the initial type goggles or a transparent attempt to keep the pupil area. We are planning holiday一応明Ke ships. Neck is a type tag for printing pentagonal sides. It contains a logo or text.

GARAKUTAGIGAS Sample Paint...slightly different

Okuda-san from Altelier G-1 just posted new sample paint pictures of the upcoming GARAKUTAGIGAS designed by Artist Alex Wald of Astromonster. Very subtle differences, but the inclusion of more blue is always welcome in my book. This is a very complicated paint application and I applaud Okuda-san for his incredible efforts.

Pre-sales will occur on the Altelier G-1 Webstore at 12:01 am on July 1st Japan time which would make it 8:01 am on Thursday, June 30th. Unfortunately, I am told that Altelier G-1 will not ship overseas so you might need to use an agent. Otherwise, my understanding is that Medicom's Project 1/6 Online Store will also carry it and they do ship overseas. Good luck...!
