More Mazinger Z SoC DX from Tokyo Toy Show 2012

Another post with new and better pics from the Tokyo Toy Show 2012 via AmiAmi of the Bandai Mazinger Z 40th Anniversary Soul of Chogokin DX.

Couple of things not noted in my earlier post:
1. Larger than standard SoC figures. This guy is 300mm or almost 12" inches tall..!
2. Comes with LEDs that light up the chest and head.

Mazinger Z Soul of ChogokinDX 40th Anniversary...!!

Every once in a while, something comes along that gets the blood pumping. Something that will excite even the most jaded collector. So when the interwebs were a buzz this morning of this upcoming 40th Anniversary Soul of ChogokinDX Mazinger Z set, I realized that some wishes do come true. I've always wanted a high quality robot with guts. I have a plastic Grendizer that has 1/2 painted and the other half is clear revealing the innards. I love it. One of my favorite toys. But this thing is on a whole nother level. It's a set including the hanger with the Mazinger Z skeletal system as the base. Armor panels are then added to complete the figure. Looks fantastic, but this SOC_DX line goes head to head with the Fewture EX-GOKIN line in detail and price. At over $460, this guy ain't cheap. Due out in December.

Chogokin Vehicle Voltron Preview!!

Hot scoop! Coming this Spring is an all new chogokin style Vehicle Voltron, and it looks amazing! Details are being kept under wraps, but what we do know is he stands thirteen inches tall, is roughly sixty percent die-cast, is amazingly articulated and will be a combiner-able to brake down into all fifteen seperate vehicles, as well as fitting together to form the Land, Sea and Air Teams. Truly an engineering marvel and my vote for toy of the year!

Top Five Toys I'm Waiting For

I often get asked "So what toy(s) are you looking forward to?" Without thinking too much about it, I quickly came up with this list. It's been a while since i've been this excited about this many new toys. I confined my choices to new toys as opposed to new colorways or variants. What are YOU looking forward to?

Soul of Chogokin GOD SIGMA vs GOD SIGMA Godaikin

It's been a while since i've been really excited about an Soul of Chogokin release. But my excitement runneth over for the upcoming GOD SIGMA. Largely due to my buddy Dustin. We visited his parents one rainy day and he busted out his near mint GOD SIGMA Godaikin that he had as a wee lad. Complete in the box with all of the accessories intact. Amazing feat. I got to check it out all it's chunkiness and transforming goodness for myself and the fangs of the vintage bug sank deep once again/ Just look at this thing of beauty...!







So until I can get my hands on a vintage GOD SIGMA Godaikin, i'll have to make due with the SOC version coming out in July. It's gonna be pricey at around $200 with the exchange rate and all that. But looks to be worth it.

SOC Mazinger Z Atami Night Version - Tamashii Nations Autumn 2009 Exclusive

Here is the exclusive SOC Mazinger Z "Atami Night Version" from Tamashii Nations 2009. I think it's one of the more interesting exclusives from the show. I like the neon chest badge, but what sets this toy apart is the alternative head showing the half-human incarnation. Very cool. You might be able to get one on ebay for around $100 if you look around.

Soul of Chogokin Big-O...!

The fan favorite Big-O finally get the SOC treatment. Almost 9" inches tall and made up of glorious die-cast, this special version has been thoroughly vetted by the original Big-O designer Keiichi Sato. Big-O will feature a few gimmicks like his Sudden Impact move and will include parts for his Cannon and Missle party. At nearly $140, this guy is not cheap, but I think it's so cool looking that an investment might have to be made. Hitting your favorite Japanese toys stores and websites right about now...

Soul of Chogokin: BIG-O...!!

It's been many moons and too many old-school, retro, blocky SOC Robots (in my humble opinion), since i've been excited about an SOC release. But with this very interesting and beautiful BIG-O getting the royal SOC treatment, my faith has been restored!! Look at this thing!!! Them arms look like they could drive a real-life nail! Due in September for around 12,800 yen. Better save them nickles!
