Daniel Goffin X Max Toy Mini Kaiju Eyezon Project

Warning: This is a Art Project ! We do not advise you to eat the contents. Due to the potentially toxic nature of vinyl degassing we can not recommend the consumption of the candy inside. Do not eat the toy either!

Limited to 10 pieces, custom painted figures, each hand numbered and signed. Artist Daniel Goffin has created a fantastic vision of a clear Eyezon with internal guts.

Daniel has hand sculpted guts for Eyezon that are so prefect they fit like a puzzle into the figure.

Each gut piece using food grade silicon molds were cast in pieces using isomaltose sugar, glazing agent and other ingredients. Each hard piece was than wrapped in food grade mylar plastic and inserted into each figure.

Here's what Daniel says about this project:
" I think it is necessary to educate people about the potentially toxic nature of vinyl gases. On the other hand many people eat a lot of unhealthy food on a daily basis. They are candy guts but it is also an art project that plays with the temptation of consumption. "

You may be tempted but we do not recommend eating the guts but rather enjoying how pretty they look inside the figure ;-)

Eyezon Painting by Daniel Goffin for Max Toy Co.'s 5th Anniversary

First, an illustration that I made for the 5th anniversary celebration of Mark Nagata's Max Toy Company which will be start in Tokyo April 2nd and 3rd at Design Festa Gallery. The show will continue April 23rd at San Francisco's Double Punch Gallery.

We (the participants) were asked not send in customized toys but instead come up with our own interpretations of the protagonists and antagonists of Mark’s fictional universe. It was not long ago that I came across the website captainmaxx.com which shows various (fake) vintage cases of packing design, tin toys and photos about Captain Maxx – Mark’s own version of Japan’s most well known superhero: Ultraman. I liked the approach so much that I felt inspired to create my own attempt at turning Captain Maxx and his enemy Eyezon into a fake ukiyo-e print suggesting that the hero and his adversaries might actually be rooted in Japanese folklore, albeit relatively unknown.

The diptych is painted on two panels of grey cardboard using ink, acrylics, brushes and airbrush. Each panel is slightly larger than A4 (ca 8×12 inch). Prints will also be available.

Max Toy Company Halloween Exclusive Neo Eyezon!!

Max Toy Co is doing a super limited run of these GID Neo Eyezons (above) for Halloween. They are produced for Mark by Dream Rocket. He also painted five (5) one-offs (below). I bet they are sold out, but check his webstore just to make sure. $40 for the Halloween Exclusive (above). $100 for the One-Offs below. He also has a very small supply of red and pink unpainted Neo Eyezons for $18 each (not pictured).
