Saturday at Super 7

Went to Japantown last Saturday. Got a bunch of seaweed and snacks, had lunch with Joe and of course visited Josh and Alex at Super7. Clear grey Mongolion with GID pour is awesome.

Custom M1 Go Matango by Matt Walker, Dead Presidents Design!!

Here is another custom by Matt Walker of Dead Presidents Designs. Matango by M1 Go. There is some controversy over Matt and whether or not he is simply applying his customs skills on something he knows nothing about. And that his paint application gives no regard to the form or sculp of the actual toy itself. I couldn't disagree more. When I look at this toy painted by Matt, I see the utmost respect given to the designers of the toy. The use of the metallic paints, flake and shading enhance the sculp and make one look at this Mushroom monster in a way you might not have otherwise. To each his own, but I really find it hard to be believe that anyone could see this toy and not think it's simply beautiful.

One of our friends on Skullbrain Laura (aka El Word) has been absent for a while. She recently re-surfaced with a new baby!! Congratulations Laura!! So In honor of parenthood, another boardmember, BloodDrinker6969 started a photo thread asking everyone to post pictures of their mama/papa with baby toy sets. Such a splendid idea!! Who would have thought a guy with a name like BloodDrinker6969 could come up with such a cute photo thread??!! By the way, Blood, 69 alone aint gonna get you any kids....

Anyhoooo, I thought I would post up some of the best pics here. Hypermook above kills it with his Matango pic. The use of two very different toys is awesome. The out stretched arms and expression on the papa Matango is almost too priceless. The little guy on the trike even looks like he's excited to be off on his own...

Next Turtletooth pays an amazing homage to Lone Wolf and Cub with these two Hedorah figures. Great shot. The baby's little smoggy hands look poised to release twin spears of smog!! Lone Wolf and Cub is one of my favorite all-time movie series!!



Finally, we have this wonderful shot by Mestizza showing a baby Kanegon dancing at the foot of her parents. Shots like these make the toys come alive...!!

Just released recently at Wonderfestival in Japan, this clear painted Charatics Mini Matango gift box is one jewel of a toy. He's not much more than 2 inches tall and comes with a matching gift box! Highly recommended for your girlfriend or wife. You just might want to leave out that Matango was a poisonous, man-eating mushroom monster!
