Grumble Toy at SDCC 2012...!!

Grumble Toy at SDCC 2012

Finally got to meet Chris and Ainsley from Grumble Toy. Man, it's so true what they say about Canadians: they are the nicest people in the world. Chris and Ainsley are humble, down to earth and really chill. Super nice people. I'm digging the new cat called "Chubby Tough". You gotta love that expression.

The Quickening: Velocitron vs Grody Shogun

The Quickening: Velocitron vs Grody Shogun

You gotta hand it to Luke aka Grody Shogun. He's full of whacked out ideas. This "Battle of the Customizers" idea is interesting. I like their first choice of toys as well. Never would have guessed it. The styles and even color choices are too similar though. but I like Grody's better.

The Quickening is a whole new arena, one that pits painter against painter. And where you, the disconcerting collector will act as judge, jury and executioner. Your choice, your purchase, will seal the fate and doom one unlucky artist to suffer insurmountable humiliation. You will have blood on your hands.

Every few weeks Velocitron with battle it out with Grody Shogun. Buddies and studio mates who craft magic and joy during the day go head to head in this winner take all bout. The goal is simple, be the the first to sell out your painted run by any means necessary. The stakes however are high, before every conflict each side draws up losing terms. To the victor goes the accolades and love of the masses and the loser is faced with completing the shameful challenge before him. Is this infantile? Yes. Is this what happens when two grown men-children work long hours together late into the night? Double yes. Will this be funny as hell, totally.

First up is Marmit x Amarpro's Penanggalan, an angry vampiric head and entrails. Perfect first figure? Probably not! Painted on a GID base with long flowing brown hair. She goes up for pre-sale on Saturday, June 25th at Noon Pacific for $30 each. Super limited, equal sized runs.

The stakes? Glad you asked. Grody Shogun's requested that the flabby and cakely Velocitron's punishment be suffering of his own joy. He must eat his favorite, ice cream burger, in under a minute without the use of his pudgy little sausage fingers. And if Velocitron sells out first? He has challenged Luke to a bitter soda sludgefest. The victor will videotape the defeated for your YouTube witnessing pleasure. Let the games begin.

Introducing 超-cho the Wing Monster by Grumble Toys x Amapro...!

Cho at Grumble Toy

Friday April 16th we will be releasing our 超-cho toy! Purple vinyl, with gold, blue, mauve, and orange spray. Friday the 16th 7 PM CST. Get yours at Grumble Toy

超-cho (pronounced Chou-cho) the wing monster is the 3rd toy designed by Grumble Toy. He was sculpted by Ryuuji Kii of Amapro in Japan. As always, Chris and I are thrilled with the job that Amapro did. He always does a great job of giving the toys personality. 超-cho is a mini toy that is a similar size to Wormrah (approximately 3 inches tall).

This Monday at 12 noon we will put up 2 exclusive versions of Amapro's Mecha-Gorilla. Those of you who were lucky enough to attend the ICFSB show in San Francisco may have seen a custom of this figure I painted for that show.

Both versions are painted by Ainsley and myself. The Blue, Green, and Red version is a color combo put together by our good friend Ryuuji Kii of Amapro. The peach version was dreamed up by us. Both versions are on milky white vinyl.

Grumble Toy x Amapro = Wormrah!!!

IMG_3078 400x599

I've always been a fan of Ainsley's beautiful colored pencil illustrations that serve as mascots for Grumble Toy. How wonderful that they sent one of their designs to be realized in mini figure form by Japanese toy maker Amapro. Sculped by Ruuji Kii of Amapro and painted by Chris of Grumble Toys, this is truly a global collaboration! I have to say that this is one of those toys that you really have to hold in-hand to appreciate. The 3.5" size means he fits in with all the other mini figures on my desk. The sculp and paint application are pretty faithful to the illustrations. I'm definitely looking forward to more of Ainsley's illustrations to come to life!!

Kaiju-Taro Exclusive Amapro ST Naruton!!!

naruton_eating 400x146

Kaiju-Taro has released an exclusive Amapro Naruton figure in a standard size 9" in a beautiful clear. I love the marketing gimick with the "Cup of Noodles". As a college student, I lived off of these. As an underpaid lackey, I survived off of these. Now as someone who spends too much money on Japanese toys, I thrive on Cup of Noodles! Of couse, the face of the Naruton looks just like the fishcake you might find in your Udon, but not in your Cup of Noodles...!! lol...!! Buy in now for around $50 at Kaiju-Taro
